Mark Jackson Is Name To Watch In Potential Knicks Head Coach Search
MARK JACKSON
The New York Knicks may be headed for another head coaching search in the weeks and months to come, and there may already be a poten- tial favorite to get the job when that search happens.
With Knicks coach David Fizdale on the hot seat, there is already speculation about who might succeed him if and when he’s fired. According to Chris Mannix of SI, one name worth watching is for- mer Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson, who was an original candidate be- fore the Knicks hired Fizdale.
Jackson went 121-109 in three years with the Warriors, and was fired a year before they won their first NBA title. More relevantly, he spent parts of seven seasons with the Knicks as a player, so there are some longstanding ties here.
Dead At 38, Reportedly Battled
Cancer And Liver Disease
Deion Sanders was sur- prisingly linked to the Florida State head coaching job late last week, and while it’s still not looking likely he lands that job, he’s certainly ready to find a position he likes.
Sanders made clear Sun- day on NFL Network that he’s ready to coach in college, though he has no experience at that level.
“I have not spoken to any- one from Florida State re- garding this,” Sanders said, via Sam Hellman of 247 Sports. “But let me assure you, I am 100 percent, 100 percent desiring to coach at the next level and I will.”
Sanders is affirming he has not spoken to Florida State about their open coach-
The Detroit Lions issued a statement ... saying, "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Detroit Lions former wide receiver Charles Rogers."
"From Saginaw, to East Lansing, to Detroit, Charles' connection to the state of Michigan and its football community was felt by many during the course of his life. We extend our heart- felt and condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time."
Rogers had been diag- nosed with liver disease and cancer and was awaiting a liver transplant before he died, his former high school coaches told MLive.com. "He had cancer, whether that was related to his liver I don’t know,” Rogers' ex-Saginaw High basketball coach Mar- shall Thomas said. "They had given him 30 days to live if he didn’t get a liver trans- plant." Still not clear on the details surrounding Rogers' condition but Charles' mother was reportedly help- ing out with his care.
One person close to Rogers says they had spo- ken with him as recently as this weekend and told us they believed Rogers was

ing job. This certainly makes it sounds like it hasn’t been because of a lack of interest. Given the support he’s re- ceived, maybe some sschool could look his way and add some instant excitement and credibility to their program. Whether that turns out to be Florida State remains to be seen.
NFL Arranges Private Workout For Colin
Kaepernick To Practice And Interview With Teams
COLIN KAEPERNICK
Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick hasn't played a down in the NFL since Jan. 1, 2017, but that could change in the near future.
NFL clubs were informed by the league that a private workout will be held for Kaepernick on Saturday in Atlanta, ESPN first reported. The session will include on- field work and an interview as well. All 32 clubs were in- vited to attend and video of the workout and interview will be made available to all clubs.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the memo which was sent to NFL teams states, "Earlier this year, we discussed some possible steps with his representatives
and they recently empha- sized his level of preparation and that he is ready to work out for clubs and be inter- viewed by them. We have therefore arranged this op- portunity for him to work out, and for all clubs to have the opportunity to evaluate his current readiness and level of interest in resuming his NFL career."
The league arranged this workout opportunity for Kaepernick, as teams will now have the opportunity to evaluate his football readi- ness. Kaepernick has re- peatedly maintained that he's ready and even posted a video on Twitter prior to this season that claimed he has been working out five days a week for the last three years.
