Groundbreaking Ceremony Held For Perry C. Harvey Park
Breaking ground on the new park is: (l to r) Maurice Harvey, Evelyn Harvey-Keel, Councilman Harry Cohen, Mayor Bob Buckhorn, State Rep. Ed Narain, Chloe Coney, Dr. Hazel Harvey, Felicia Harvey, Sonja Harvey-McCoy, Kay Andrews, Alton White, Jr., Karina Billups and Andreeta Harris.
Structure Of West Tampa CRA Approved By City Council
During the Community Re- development Area meeting Thursday, the structure of the Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) of the West Tampa CRA was approved by the City Coun- cil unanimously.
Drew Park and West Tampa Development Manager, Jeanette LaRussa Fenton, presented the format to the Council, explaining how and why it was structured, and the responsibilities of each CAC representative.
As outlined by Ms. Fenton, the West Tampa CAC will be comprised of 8 recognized community groups, and 3 at- large seats, to make up the 11 member board.
The 8 community groups that will be represented on the CAC will be:

• The West Tampa CDC
• The West Riverfront Crime Watch Association
• The Old West Tampa Neigh- borhood Association
• The West Tampa Alliance
• The West Tampa Com-
munity Council
• The North Hyde Park Civic
Association
• The North Hyde Park

Applications for the three at-
large seats will be made avail- able online and leaders of each community group will need to submit the name of the person who will be representing them on the CAC.
What started out as a vision will now be reality as more than 100 people stood in the blazing heat Tuesday to be a part of the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Perry C. Harvey Park.
Among the speakers for the groundbreaking ceremony was Mayor Bob Buckhorn, Florida Sentinel Bulletin Pub- lisher Kay Andrews, who spoke on behalf of the An- drews family, and three mem- bers of the Harvey family, Dr. Hazel Harvey, Chair of the Tampa Housing Authority Board, Sonja Harvey- McCoy, and Evelyn Harvey- Keel.
