Teenager Dies In Accident Community Activist To Address
With Tampa Police Car
Health Forum Audience
A 19-year-old was killed in a traffic accident early Satur- day. The accident took place on U. S. 41 and Florida Av- enue, at approximately 12:15 a.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ms. Ashlyn Price, 18, of Land O’ Lakes, was driving a 1996 Saturn southbound in the outside lane, just north of the inter- section. Her passenger was Jordan Garrett, 19, also of Land O’ Lakes.
Sgt. Sigure O’Neal, 43, of Tampa, was driving a
marked Tampa Police vehicle. Ms. Price failed to stop for a red traffic signal and the front of her vehicle struck the front of Sgt. O’Neal’s vehi- cle. As a result of the impact, Garrett was seriously injured and died at the scene of the
crash. Both Ms. Price and Sgt.
O’Neal received minor in- juries, but were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treat- ment.
The investigation is con- tinuing and charges are pend- ing, police said.

More than a year ago, the Men’s Group began hosting a Monthly Health Forum. It is usually held the last Friday of each month, beginning at 11 a.m., at the College Hill Church Of God In Christ, 6414 N. 30th Street, (corner of N. 30th Street and E. Diana). Superintendent Charles Davis is the host pastor.
And, although it began as an event for men, it quickly became a forum for anyone who could attend who was interested in improving his or her health or quality of life.

present the first forum of
this year on Friday, January 27th.

and President of Get it Straight Foundation, founded in 2009, to reach youth and adults with the message of self-empower- ment, positive decision-mak- ing and avoiding situations that lead to bad outcomes.
He is also the founder and owner of Irene and Joe’s Lawn and Tree Care. The company hires ex-felons and
others trying to turn their lives around.
Butler said, “The late Rev. Abe Brown, helped me start in the lawn business by finding me a few yards to mow around the church. I’m an East Tampa native from public housing.”
Butler has been honored by the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Police De- partment as a community hero. He speaks at confer- ences, churches, schools and events held within the com- munity.
He will discuss how deci- sions, conflicts, and anger can have an adverse effect on health.

Brandon Man Shot At Dade City Wake In Critical Condition
Driver Charged With DUI After Crash Leaves 2 Injured

The Dade City Police De- partment is seeking informa- tion pertaining to a shooting this weekend. A resident of Brandon was hit by gunfire and is currently listed in crit- ical condition.
According to police, offi- cers responded to the 37000 block of Moceri Avenue Fri- day night in reference to shots being fired. When the officers arrived at the scene, they discovered 36-year-old Bilal Adurraheem Belle laying on the ground with a gunshot to his upper body.
Belle was located in front of his vehicle, parked in the yard at 37307 Moceri Avenue. Police believe he had at- tended a wake that drew a very large crowd that spilled out across a number of yards in the area.
Belle was transported to Lakeland Regional Hospital, where he underwent surgery and remained in very critical

condition. Detectives arrested Jer-
maine Isaac Ross, 31, of Dade City, in connection with the shooting. Officials said he surrendered Saturday night and was charged with aggra- vated battery with a deadly weapon. Ross was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm stem- ming from a previous shoot- ing involving Belle that took place in August 2016. The in- vestigation is continuing and additional charges may be pending, police said.
The case remains under investigation and police are asking anyone with any infor- mation regarding the shoot- ing to contact Detective Robert Tungate at (352) 521-1495.

Police arrested a 45-year- old Tampa man after he was involved in a traffic accident Friday night. The accident se- riously injured two people.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, shortly be- fore 10:30 p.m., Saturday, Terrence Robert Light was driving a GMC Sierra northbound in the turn lane on State Road 597. His pas- senger was Ms. Shelby Hig- gins Light, 47, of Tampa.

Road 597. Light, who received minor
injuries, was arrested after he provided a breath sample of 0.151. He was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he was charged with two counts driving under the influence causing bodily harm.
Ms. Light and Schmiedebush were both transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where they were both admitted. Ms. Light was listed in critical condition and Schmiedebush was listed in serious condition, police said.
