AIKENS
MR. LEROY NORMAN, SR.
A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Leroy Norman of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Tuesday, August 21, ,
st will be held Friday, August 31 ,
11 a. m. at St. John Progressive M. B. Church, 2504 E. Chipco St., Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, Sr., pastor, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Ceme- tery.
Leroy Norman was born February 2, 1952 in Tampa, Florida, to the late Calvin Nor- man, Sr. and the late Mary Lue Norman.
Leroy Norman was pre- ceded in death by: his parents, Calvin Norman, Sr., and Mary Lue Norman; a brother, Calvin Norman, Jr.; and niece, Audrey Norman.
Leroy was the 4th of 6 sib- lings and was a graduate of Mid- dleton Senior High School class of 1969. He was a self-employed entrepreneur, a “Master Bar- ber” for over 35 years before re- tiring. He was a proud member of St. John Progressive Mission- ary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Bartholomew Banks and an ac- tive member of the Male Cho- rus. His favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own under- standing. (6) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
He was also an active mem- ber of the Future Farmers of America and was a big influence on young men in the commu- nity. He had a passion for fish- ing and was very competitive with his, “as he called it, Art of Fishing.”
He is survived by his daugh- ter, Twanda Norman-Lawes (James); 4 step-daughters, Opal Raglin (Na-Na), Sabrina Tucker, Mary Powe, Quane- shala Johnson; 3 step-sons, Christopher Jones, Ro Clarke (Candie), CB; 3 sisters, Rochelle Gowins, Mary Strange (Vincent), and Cathy Dilbert; 1 brother, Grover Norman; grandchildren, Nakisha and Jameez; a host of other grand- children, nieces and nephews and other sorrowing relatives and friends; special mentions, uncle, Johnney Jones of Ft. Lauderdale, Annie Wesby of Waynesboro, GA; and aunt, Clara Norman of Rhode Island.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Thurs- day, August 30th from 5 to 7 p. m. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p. m.
The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Friday for the service.

Graveside service for Ms. Marie Ellen White, who passed on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, will be held on Tuesday, August 28,2018at11a.m.atRest Haven Memorial Park Ceme- tery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, Florida, with Rev. W. D. Sims, officiating. Interment will follow.
Ms. White is survived by: her beloved daughter, Margaret E. White and other relatives and friends.
Ms. Marie Ellen White was born on April 6, 1930 in Tampa, Florida, to the parentage of Wal- ter E. White and Bertha Frier- son White. She attended the public schools of Hillsborough County.
Ms. White was a beloved mother and friend. She was a very active volunteer in her community and Neighborhood Wtch Program. She loved God, her family and was a dear friend.
Friends are asked to assem- ble at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery by 10:45 a. m. for the service.

Player Killed In Accident
On Saturday, a teenager who was killed in a car acci- dent was laid to rest. His fu- neral service was held at First Baptist Church of College Hill.
Jephte Germain Rogers was struck by a vehi- cle as he attempted to cross the street at W. Sligh Avenue and Rome after school. The 16-year-old was transported to a local hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
Rogers was the son of Joel Germain, Jr., and Aisha Lenay Rogers. He is survived by his parents, sib- lings, grandparents, other family members and friends.

Tampa Bay Christian Acad- emy and a member of their football team. He had played football at Jefferson High School the two previous years. The football teams from both schools were in attendance.
Family members, teachers, coaches and friends filled the church to capacity to bid the teenager farewell.
His mother asked those in attendance to pray for the driver who struck and killed her son, and those who tried to save his life.
She further stated that the family is not angry and they understand it was a tragic ac- cident. “He is with the Lord,” Ms. Rogers said.
Longtime COGIC Pastor Dies Suddenly
ELDER WILLIE FOWLER
Elder Willie Fowler,
Pastor of the New Palm River Church of God in Christ (COGIC), died suddenly Satur- day morning in Brandon Re- gional Hospital. He was 80 years old.
Elder Fowler relocated to Tampa from Tallahassee, where he was the pastor of Greater Love COGIC. He was at New Palm River COGIC for 29 years.
Among his survivors are: wife, Mrs. Myrtis Fowler; 4 sons and a daughter.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Ray Williams Funeral Home.
