Police To Search For Gunman In Fatal Shooting

Man Charged With Killing Woman And Unborn Child

Detectives have located and interviewed an individual in- volved in the death of a Tampa teenager. The fatal shooting took place shortly after mid- night in downtown Tampa.
According to a press release distributed by the Tampa Po- lice Department May 21st, “po- lice have identified the shooter involved in the Curtis Hixon Park shooting.”
“Detectives have inter- viewed the subject and we be- lieve we have recovered the firearm. The investigation is ongoing, we are reviewing the appropriate charges, the re- lease stated.
Police said nearly 100 peo- ple were at the Curtis Hixon Park, 600 N. Ashley Drive, on May 17th. The crowd gathered around 9:45 p.m., that Satur- day evening and several fights broke out.
Shortly after midnight, shots rang out and 18-year-old Antonio “Jay Jay” McGuire, Jr., was struck by gunfire. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
A Tampa native, “Jay Jay” attended the public schools of Hillsborough County. He was enrolled at Hillsborough High School at the time of his death. He was a senior, but wasn’t slated to graduate this year.

also found evidence of Lee placing a GPS tracker on her car.
Detectives learned during the investigation that Ms. Grandberry was preparing to go to work at a local Wawa when she was killed. Wit- nesses told police they heard her scream, “Stop, please don’t do this,” before the shooting.
Detectives also met with and interviewed witnesses fa- miliar with both Ms. Grand- berry and Lee, and positively identified Lee from surveillance video taken from the area.
In addition to the new charges, Lee has also been charged with tampering with an electronic monitoring de- vice and 3 counts of violation of probation for 2 counts of trafficking in cocaine, and es- cape from law enforcement.
Detectives are conducting an investigation into a shoot- ing that left a man dead. They are continuing their search for the gunman.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the area of E. Sligh Avenue and N. 50th Street around 9:30 p.m., May 25th. The 9-1-1 calls re- ported shots had been fired.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found two ve- hicles that had been involved in a traffic accident. They also discovered that an adult man had been shot. The 33-year- old victim was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died.
Sources have identified the victim as Raphael Adger, who was called “Ralph” and known as the DVD Man as well.
Detectives believe that the
gunman was in one of the cars and fled on foot after the shooting. Two people in the other vehicle received minor injuries and were also trans- ported to Tampa General Hospital for treatment.
Detectives also believe they located another site within the Avesta Del Rio Apartment Complex that is possibly connected to the murder.

said, “We know that there were several witnesses to this crime and we’re asking any- one with information to come forward.”

Detectives have arrested a 45-year-old man in connec- tion with the murder of a pregnant woman. The murder took place earlier this month.
According to the Tampa Police Department, Jerry Myer Lee, of Tampa, has been charged with first degree murder; killing of an unborn child, shooting into an occu- pied vehicle, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was arrested on May 6th on unrelated charges.
Around 5 a.m., on May 5th, police responded to the 1000 block of E. 25th Avenue, in ref- erence to reports of several gunshots. When they arrived, they discovered Ms. Zakiera Grandberry, 22, in the dri- ver’s seat of her red Chevrolet Camaro.
Ms. Grandberry had been struck by gunfire several times and died at the scene. An autopsy report stated that she was 23-26 weeks pregnant at the time of her death. Her death also resulted in the death of her fetus, police said.
There were several bullet holes in the front driver’s side window.
During the investigation, detectives developed leads linking Lee to the murder, in- cluding petitions she had filed for several injunctions listing Lee as the respondent. They
 Police have arrested a 21- year-old man and charged him in connection with a stabbing death. The incident took place shortly before 7 p.m., last Thursday.
According to the Tampa Police Department, officers re- sponded to the 4000 block of W. Granada Street, in refer- ence to a stabbing. Officers on the scene located two people, a man and a woman, suffering from several stab wounds.
The two victims were transported to Tampa General Hospital, where the 51-year- old man died as a result of his injuries. The 55-year-old woman was listed in critical condition.
When police arrived at the scene, Anthony Kaptzan and a witness were at the scene. Kaptzan was also

transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he was treated for lacerations he sustained on his hand while committing the offense, police said.

charged with second-degree murder with a weapon and at- tempted second-degree mur- der.
