Here a ‘recipe’ to create a DIY natural mosquito repellent.
Ingredients
2 Tbsp. of witch hazel
2 Tbsp. of jojoba, almond, or
olive oil
50 – 60 drops essential oils
(citronella, eucalyptus, tea tree, peppermint, cypress, rose geranium, bergamot, lemon or cinnamon)
Sample Essential Oil Blend (10 drops of each oil - cedarwood, lavender and rosemary)
DIRECTIONS: Combine witch hazel with oil of choice. Mix in essential oils. Combine thoroughly. Rub or spray the nat- ural insect repellent onto skin or clothing, using care to avoid the sensitive eye area.
Note: You’ll need to re-apply the natural product after about an hour, or after swimming or ex- ercising. Unused natural insect repellent may be stored in a dark bottle, away from heat or sun- light. Keep out of reach of chil- dren. Do not swallow.
Some people have sensitivity to certain oils so do a skin test.
3 Reasons To Use Turmeric
Because of its rich nutrients and how they literally heal the body, you’ll be rich in health if you have turmeric around.
Here’s 3 reasons why:
1. Pain Reliever - Turmeric’s pain relieving abilities are linked in large part to its anti-inflamma- tory properties; in reducing in- flammation, particularly in chronic cases, pain is reduced as well.
Perhaps the best part: turmeric has none of the nasty side effects of over-the-counter pain relieving medications.
2. Stomach Problem Solver - Turmeric is particularly soothing when it comes to stom- ach problems, ranging from mere digestive discomfort to more se- rious conditions.
Thanks to curcumin’s ability to stimulate the gallbladder to pro-
duce bile and its natural ability to suppress stomach acid, it can be used to treat a number of prob- lems including indigestion, bloat- ing, gas, and even ulcerative colitis. This chronic disease’s symptoms tend to come and go, but turmeric manages to keep them at bay in many cases.
3. Cancer Fighter - Supple- menting with turmeric has proven to have anti-cancer prop- erties; in fact, cancer is one of the conditions with the most evi- dence for the benefits of the spice, according to research.
Some evidence of turmeric’s anti-cancer properties includes a 2008 study, showing that cur- cumin could interfere with cell cycle, apoptosis, angiogenesis, metastasis, and inflammation, all of which could delay or impede a wide variety of cancers from de- veloping, including leukemia, lymphoma, gastrointestinal can- cers, breast cancer, ovarian can- cer, lung cancer, and melanoma.
