How Rza Turned One Of America's Worst Disasters Into A Cinematic Burst Of Optimism
Travis Scott Set To Get McDonald's Money
Travis Scott is getting busy.
As he continues to work on new music (including a joint album with Kid Cudi), La Flame is making sure to keep his portfolio diversified as well and has reportedly partnered with McDonald’s for a new col- lab. Details aren’t clear yet, but a leaked memo from the fast food chain’s US chief marketing officer Morgan Flatley made its way to Business Insider and they’re apparently really ex- cited.
“From his impossible-to-get Nike sneaker line, to a cereal collab with General Mills that sold out in 30 seconds, to a record-setting virtual concert series inside Fortnite, Travis Scott is the definition of big in

culture,” Flatley wrote. “Be- yond this, he is a true fan of Mc- Donald’s and our craveable, iconic food. He will resonate and spark excitement with our youthful multicultural cus- tomers, and has a few surprises to delight our crew and ensure they are part of the excite- ment.”

RZA is back in the director’s chair for Cut Throat City, a crime drama set in New Or- leans during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The movie features many familiar names for Hip Hop fans with Shameik Moore (Wu-Tang: An American Saga), Demetrius Shipp Jr. (All Eyez On Me) and T. I. among the cast members along with Terrence Howard, Ethan Hawke and Wesley Snipes.
The film, which was released on August 21, has arrived at a time when natural disasters are front and center as Hurri- cane Laura hit the Gulf Coast amid Katrina’s 15th anniver- sary and the ongoing COVID- 19 pandemic. But RZA sees his new movie as something that resonates beyond tragedies caused by Mother Nature.

Jermaine Dupri Used To Joke With Jay-Z About Going Vegan And Now, Hov And Beyoncé Are Plant-Based Food Advocates
Health professionals are urg- ing people to adopt a vegan diet as the COVID-19 pan- demic continues its rampage across the globe. The threat to our immune systems has more and more Americans seeking healthier alternatives to their meat-heavy routines and lead- ing to more plant-based meals — and that’s music to Jer- maine Dupri’s ears.
A longtime vegan, the sto- ried producer recently took on the role of Creative Director at The Beet, an online magazine founded by former SELF mag- azine editor-in-chief Lucy Danziger.
As part of his duties, the So So Def mastermind shares his 15 years of experience eating plant-based foods in a column called “On The Beet With Jer- maine Dupri.” In a recent in- terview with HipHopDX, Dupri says he’s always been

ahead of the curve.
“I’ve been vegan for about 15
years and I’ve been talking about it the whole time I’ve been vegan,” he tells DX. “It’s just that people are paying at- tention to it now. It takes min- utes for people to get on things. I’m the guy that — I don’t want to say I’m a wave starter, but I start things before people start talking about them.
Case in point, Dupri likely planted the seed that led to JAY-Z and Beyoncé adopt- ing (mostly) vegan diets. The famous couple started their plant-based journey in 2013 and in January 2019 launched a vegan meal service called 22 Days Nutrition with Marco Borges, their personal trainer and author of The Greenprint. But Dupri has been teasing Hov about going vegan since he began frequenting Jay’s 40/40 Club.
“I won’t say that I was re- sponsible for them going, but I will say that we used to laugh about it,” he admits. “I was vegan and used to go to 40/40 all the time and have conversa- tions with Hov and be like, ‘Yo man, when you going to put some vegan on the menu?’ And he’ll make a joke like, ‘Man, just have a hamburger. Don’t worry about it.’
