Sports Enthusiasts Give Comment On Jameis Winston’s Accuser ‘Coming Forward’
BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
When Florida State Univer- sity’s star quarterback, Jameis Winston was ac- cused of sexually assaulting a female student at Florida State, months passed before her name was revealed.
The young woman accused Winston of sexually assault- ing her in December 2012. After a reported investigation, Winston was cleared of any wrongdoing in 2013.
Earlier this week, the woman who accused Win- ston of rape, Erica Kins- man of Zephyrhills, told her story about sexual assault in a documentary. She also ap- peared on Good Morning America.
Since Winston is prepar- ing for the 2015 NFL draft, many are wondering if the documentary was timed to air just in time to cause distrac- tions.
Some sports enthusiasts made these comments.
Bay Area businessman,
MARVIN KNIGHT
Marvin Knight believes Winston will be a good fit for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “If he comes here, or wherever he goes, he’ll need to surround himself with some positive role models – people like Tony Dungy and Derrick Brooks. This is an opportu- nity for Tampa to have some exciting football, and an op- portunity for Jameis to show that he is a responsible per- son.
“He can come to Tampa and be productive right away,” he stated.
“None of us were there

when the alleged assault oc- curred and we may never know what actually hap- pened,” stated James Ran- som.
“It is said that, ‘Justice is Blind’ and we know the ac- cuser stayed out of sight until now. In the meantime, Win- ston owned up to knowing the accuser and having inti- mate contact with her. He de- nied assaulting her and the State Attorney and FSU found no sufficient evidence to sup- port the accuser’s claim. None of us know what really happened.

“If the allegation is true, Winston should be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Since he has not been found guilty of the allegation, what are we to do now that the accuser decided to come forward?
“I suggest that we should pray and hope that she was not assaulted and support her efforts to prove her case if in- deed she was. Otherwise, if no evidence changes the out- come, Winston will move on with his life and hopefully the accuser will be able to move on with her life beyond this
moment as well.
“Someday, we may all know
what really happened. What we do know is that justice is blind and cannot act on some- thing it does not see either.”
Erjaam Hayes who has been a lifetime FSU supporter and a Jameis Winston sup- porter, said, “When the alle- gations first came out, I felt that it would follow Jameis for some years. And after ex- hausting all options to impli- cate him criminally and with the school’s Code of Conduct hearing, I felt it was only a matter of time that the law- suits would begin to be filed. The first is with FSU and I’d assume at some point with Jameis as well.
“With the documentary being released in movies and eventually on CNN, the story will remain out there as Jameis begins his profes- sional career. But after follow- ing him the past few years, he does a good job eliminating any clutter and focusing on the game.”
