Three Arrested In Fatal I-4 Shooting Of Teenager
      JARIS DEQUAN YOUNGBLOOD
Three people have been ar- rested and charged in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old on I-4 on August 24th.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, the three individuals were riding in a gold Ford Taurus around 3:30 p.m., that Monday afternoon. The vehicle was owned by 22- year-old Jarkese Nicholas Youngblood. His two pas- sengers were his brother, Jaris Dequan Youngblood, 20, and 19-year-old Sha’Quandra Clarinique Williams.
Police said the suspect vehi- cle was in the area of Interstate 4 near Branch Forbes Road, in Plant City, when witnesses saw someone in the gold Taurus shooting at another vehicle. A 17-year-old passenger in the ve- hicle was struck by gunfire in the torso. His friends in the vehicle drove him to South Florida Bap- tist Hospital, 301 N. Alexander

Street, in Plant City, where he died of his injuries.
Jaris Youngblood was ar- rested in Tampa on Saturday and charged with premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm; shooting into an occu- pied vehicle, and tampering with evidence.
His older brother, Jarkese was found in Osceola County, where he was arrested. He was charged with being a principal to premeditated first-degree mur- der and tampering with evi- dence.
Jarkese’s girlfriend, Sha’Quandra Williams sur- rendered to police at the Orient Road Jail Saturday night. She was charged with tampering with evidence.
Detectives believe the shoot- ing followed several recent shootings on I-4 and within city jurisdictions of Plant City and Tampa, which led HCSO to

begin working closely with the Plant City Police Department and Tampa Police Department, along with the Florida Depart- ment of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) in an effort to find potential links between the cases.
Hillsborough County Sher- iff Chad Chronister said, “To address concerns that this inci- dent may be linked to a serial shooter along I-4, fortunately, that is not the case.”
The agencies worked with the FDLE to conduct ballistics testing from the shootings, which did not confirm a connec- tion between other I-4 shootings over the summer.
Detectives believe that the I- 4 shooting on August 24 may have been linked to an ongoing neighborhood and online feud between young people within and outside of the Plant City area.
After several interviews, de- tectives learned that the Young- blood brothers saw a group of individuals they were feuding with while driving down I-4, which is what led Jaris to roll down the rear driver’s side win- dow and begin shooting at the individuals while his brother was driving.
With the help of statements from witnesses driving on I-4, detectives were able to locate surveillance videos from numer- ous nearby businesses where the suspect vehicle stopped after the August 24th shooting. Video ev- idence combined with interviews helped detectives identify the Youngbloods and Sha’Quan- dra Williams as the individu- als in the suspect vehicle at the time of the shooting.
Ms. Williams later admit- ted to detectives that her one- year-old child was riding in her lap in the front passenger seat when the shooting occurred on I-4. Days after the shooting, Ms. Williams sold Jarkese Youngblood’s gold Ford Tau- rus to a scrap metal yard in Osceola County in an effort to hide the evidence.
A shooting at an apartment complex Sunday night has re- sulted in two people being struck by gunfire. The man died as a re- sult of his injuries.
According to the Tampa Po- lice Department, officers re- sponded to the complex shortly after 11 p. m. When they arrived, they discovered a 32-year-old Black man suffering from gun- shot wounds. Although first aid was provided, the man died at the scene.
Police also located a woman nearby who was also suffering
from gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to sur- vive.

Detectives do not feel this was a random incident. The in- vestigation is continuing.
Man Charged In Shooting At Tampa Hotel
Detectives arrested a 23- year-old man in connection with a shooting at a Tampa Hotel. The shooting took place on Septem- ber 4th, around 12:39 a.m., at the Godfrey Hotel, 7700 Courtney Campbell Causeway.
According to the Tampa Po- lice Department, Juan Al- varado-Colon, Jr., was taken into custody at Brandon Town Center last Thursday. He is cur- rently being held at the Hillsbor- ough County Jail on several charges including aggravated battery causing great bodily harm with a deadly weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Officers were dispatched to the hotel in reference to a shoot- ing. When they arrived, they dis- covered the victim was an injured 25-year-old Hispanic man.
The victim was bleeding pro- fusely from a gunshot wound. One officer quickly applied a tourniquet using the cord from a blow dryer while another officer monitored the victim’s vital signs. At some point, the victim had no pulse and offi-

cers performed CPR until the victim was able to breathe on his own.
Tampa Fire Rescue arrived and transported the unidentified victim to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in stable con- dition after surgery.
Police said information gath- ered during the investigation suggests the suspect and the vic- tim are both known to each other and had a heated argument ear- lier in the evening. The suspect then returned and shot the vic- tim before fleeing the scene.
