West Tampa Alliance Completes Planning For Juneteenth
Award Recipients Are Announced
The West Tampa Al- liance has completed plan- ning for this year’s celebration of Juneteenth. The theme this year is “Break Every Chain!” The 2017 dates are scheduled for June 16-18, 2017.
On June 16, 7 p. m., the Alliance will hold their an- nual Community Awards Banquet at the David Barks- dale Center, 1801 N. Lincoln Ave. (Tampa 33606).
The 2017 recipients are: Educator of the Year, Shel- lie Green, Sligh Middle School; Activist of the Year, Dwight Bolden; Entrepre- neur of the Year, Shalonda Roberts, 813 Salads ‘N Seafood; Spiritual Leader of

Annual ‘Evening With The Stars’ Banquet Planned

On Saturday, June 17th, the Unity Chapter, #164, of Order of Eastern Stars, (OE- SPHA), will host their An- nual “Evening With The
Stars” event. It will take place at the Holiday Inn, corner Westshore Blvd., and Cypress, beginning at 7 p.m.
The theme this year is
“Lift Every Voice And Sing.”
This year, the keynote
REV. LARRY ROUNDTREE, II ... Keynote Speaker
speaker is Reverend Larry L. Roundtree, II, Senior Pastor of New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Roundtree attended the public schools of Polk County. Upon grad- uating from high school, he continued his education at Florida A & M University. His chosen field of study was Business Administra- tion.
He delivered his initial message at the age of 22, in February 2001. Rev. Roundtree was ordained in 2006, under the tutelage of Dr. N. S. Sanders.
He became the pastor of New Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Lough- man, Florida, in 2009. He served faithfully as the pas- tor of that church until 2013, when he became the pastor at New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, in Tampa.
ROBERT SCOTT, SR. ... To be honored posthumously
He is the son of Deacon Larry and Cora Roundtree, the husband of Mrs. Sameya Porter Roundtree, and the father of 5 children.
Worthy Matron Ann Jenkins said, “If you have never heard a man of God speak, then you are in for a treat. Rev. Larry Roundtree, II, will put the spirit in your life.”
The organization will also honor Deacon Robert Scott, Sr., posthumously at the event. Brother Scott was a member of Unity Chapter #164 for several years. He served as a Wor- thy Patron and Trainer.
Worthy Matron Jenk- ins said, “Brother Scott had a unique way of training and he is the reason why this banquet is held each year as a fundraiser to bene- fit the community.”

A member of the com- munity will be presented the “Community Service Volun- teer” Award.
“The name of the person being honored will be an- nounced at the event. We are recognizing this person for all of the work he or she has done to make the com- munity a better place to live or work.
“We will honor that indi- vidual with our “Commu- nity Service Volunteer” Award.
Worthy Matron Jenk- ins further encouraged those who plan to attend the event to obtain their tickets early. Tickets will not be available at the door this year.
