  High School Valedictorian Graduates With 9.51 GPA

On Friday night at 8 p.m. Spoto High School will hold its graduation ceremony. The first of its 382 graduates will be Ms. Asia Nobles, Valedicto- rian.
In addition to being the school’s first African American valedictorian and having the highest GPA in the history of the school, Ms. Nobles also has the highest weighted grade point average, 9.51, of all African American public school students in Hillsbor- ough County.
Ms. Nobles plans to con- tinue her education at the Uni- versity of South Florida, where she will pursue her Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Health- care with a concentration in Children’s Mental Health.
The daughter of Ms. Erica Simmons and Ivan Nobles,
Asia said, “I want to continue to do art as well as get into up- cycling as not only hobbies, but as additional streams of in- come. I do plan on working part-time as an undergraduate both in and outside the clinical setting to prepare myself for a career in medicine.
“I am looking forward to volunteering at psychiatric and child therapy clinics. I also want to learn more about in- vesting in order to help with upcoming post undergraduate expenses.
“Ultimately in 3 years after I complete my undergraduate studies, I would like to attend medical school, complete a psychiatry residency, and a fel- lowship in children’s and ado- lescent’s mental health fellowship.”
She recently earned her As- sociate of Arts degree with Honors from Hillsborough Community College. Other

Ms. Nobles was recently presented the Southeast Fron- tier and Ready Forward 2021 Scholarships by the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club of Florida. She is a contender for the orga- nization’s national scholarship.
She is the recipient of nu- merous other scholarships and awards, including: the Bright Futures; Humana Scholarship; USF Merit Scholarship; Rotary Club Scholarship; D.E.L.T.A Scholarship; Riverview’s Women’s Club Scholarship; Dr. Earl Lennard Scholarship; United Methodist Women Scholarship; Buffalo Soldiers Scholarship; and Becky Walker Scholarship.
In addition to earning her A. A. degree and maintaining her grade point average, Ms. Nobles was also employed and still managed to volunteer for more than 100 hours in the community.
