City Of Tampa Black History Committee Cancels 33rd Celebration
Because of COVID, the committee will plan a smaller celebration in February.
The City of Tampa Black History Committee, Inc. (COTBHC) has provided our Annual Black History Cele- bration to the employees of the City of Tampa and our community for 32 years. Over that 32-year span COTBHC has recognized our local African-American busi- nesses, political and sports figures, community activists, authors, musicians, astro- nauts, college fraternities and sororities, pioneers in our community as well as our youth and the dedicated em- ployees of the City of Tampa.
COTBHC has strived to always provide an entertain-

ing and informative celebra- tion for all to enjoy safely, but due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic, COTBHC feels it is in the best interest to cancel
our 33rd Annual Celebration at this time. COTBHC is planning to do something on a much smaller scale for the month of February.
“Although our celebra- tion has been canceled, COTBHC is planning to con- tinue to honor our graduat- ing African American high schools seniors by continuing to award scholarships and COTBHC is also planning to have our Annual Golf Tour- nament that was also can- celled due to COVID-19,” stated Celeste Gibbons- Peoples, President, COTBHC.
