Ben Carson Points To Mar-a-Lago To Show That Trump Is 'Not A Racist'
Driver In Florida Plows Van Into
The housing secretary says the workers who wash dishes and park cars at Trump's luxury Florida re- sort 'love him.'
Housing Secretary Ben Carson appeared to stray from prepared remarks as he introduced Donald Trump on Friday, declaring that the president "is not a racist" and pointing to how he treats the members and service work- ers at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
The comments came at the beginning of a North Car- olina event touting the ad- ministration’s Opportunity Zone program, which aims to spur growth in underserved areas.
“He's a man who is deeply driven by a sense of kindness and compassion,” Carson began, looking down at his notes.
Nearly Hitting 6 Volunteers
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP AND BEN CARSON
Authorities in Florida were searching Saturday night for a driver who they claim drove his van into a Republican Party voter registration tent in a shopping center parking lot, just missing six volunteers working there.
The suspect, described as a white man in his 20s, then got out of his vehicle and recorded video of the smashed tent, and flashed a middle finger to the startled voter-registration vol- unteers before driving off, FOX 30 of Jacksonville re- ported.
Photos posted by the Re- publican Party of Duval County showed Trump- Pence placards and bumper stickers strewn around the parking lot, along with the toppled tent. Another photo showed an older model brown-and-tan van driving away from the scene.
Volunteer Mark Alfieri gave FOX 30 his account of what happened.
“Kind of out of the blue, a man approached us in a van, was waving at us, kind of a friendly demeanor, thought he
“You know, talking to the people who drive the cars and park the cars at Mar-a- Lago, they love him — the people who wash the dishes, because he's kind and com- passionate,” Carson said of the president.
He continued: “When he bought Mar-a-Lago, he was the one who fought for Jews and blacks to be included in the clubs that were trying to exclude them. You know, people say he's a racist, he is
not a racist.”

again, Carson went on: “It is certainly an act of compas- sion to help our fellow Amer- icans who are struggling in neighborhoods.”
The impromptu defense of the president’s interac- tions and reference to at his glitzy West Palm Beach re- sort comes as Trump aggres- sively courts black voters as part of his reelection cam- paign.

was coming up to talk to us. Instead he accelerated his ve- hicle and plowed right into our tent, our tables,” Alfieri told the station.
“After he ran over every- thing, he backed up, took out a cell phone, kind of recorded the damage, made some ob- scene gestures at us and then proceeded to leave the com- plex.”
Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry called the inci- dent "outrageous."

Man, 25, Is Arrested After He Told A Secret Service Agent He Was There To 'Assassinate Donald Trump'
A man carrying a knife was arrested outside the White House after he told a U. S. Se- cret Service officer that he was there to kill President Don- ald Trump, police said.
Roger Hedgpeth, 25, was arrested Saturday afternoon on a charge of making threats to do bodily harm, the Metro- politan Police Department said.
Hedgpeth approached a Secret Service officer who was patrolling outside the White House and said he was there
to 'assassinate' Trump.
'I have a knife to do it with,' Hedgpeth allegedly said, ac-
cording to a police report. Police found a 3 1/2-inch knife in a sheath on his left
hip.
Hedgpeth, of Brandon,
Florida, also had an empty pistol holster on his right hip, authorities said.
Authorities described Hedgpeth in the report as a 'critically missing/endan- gered person as well as a men- tal health consumer'.
Lawyer Files Complaint After Judge Calls Juror Aunt Jemima
WHITE HOUSE
While most people proba- bly have more pressing things on their minds when they’re selected for jury duty, apparently we need to be scrutinizing what we wear too.
A Pennsylvania judge has been stripped and placed on “administrative duties” after allegedly calling a black juror, who showed up to trial in a head wrap, “Aunt Jemima.”
According to KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Mark Tranquilli was so angry after a jury issued a “not guilty” verdict at the end of a drug trial that lasted two weeks, he berated the defense attorney for allowing the black woman onto the jury.
According to the Pitts- burgh Post-Gazette, Juror No. 4 was a young black
woman who had worn a hair wrap throughout the trial.
The judge expressed that he knew the D.A. wasn’t getting a conviction from the mo- ment the woman was ques- tioned.
In a closed-door meeting with Assistant District Attor- ney Ted Dutkowski and de- fense attorney Joe Otte, Tranquilli allegedly said: “You weren’t out of strikes when you decided to put Aunt Jemima on the jury,” referring to the option Dutkowski had to object to her selection.
The judge had the nerve to even insinuate the juror might be associated with a drug dealer. “You know darn well that when she goes home to her baby daddy, he’s prob- ably slinging heroin, too,” Tranquilli is accused of say- ing, in the complaint.
