Tampa Ladies Take Fun, Educational Tour Of Cuba
When the embargo was lifted and travel to Cuba was open to residents of the United States, plane reservations im- mediately began to be made.
Gloria W. Davis and Evangeline R. Best were re- cently part of an 18 member group, who spent a week tour- ing Cuba. The tour was arranged through the “League of Women Voters of Florida Education Fund,” and con- ducted by a delegation of “Sis- ters Across the Straits.”
Former U. S. Congress- woman Annie Betancourt of Miami was the group’s di- rector and trip leader.
Others in the group repre- senting Florida cities were from Beverly Hills, Sarasota, Mount Dora, Lake Mary, Bradenton and Palm Beach Gardens. Others in the group came from Texas, Illinois and Minnesota.
Their tour guide hosted a welcome dinner for the group in Miami the evening before they departed for Cuba.

A tour guide and private bus driver met the group once they arrived. Each day’s tour began at 8:30 a. m. and they returned to the hotel around 4 p. m.
The group visited Plaza de la Revolucion of the Revolu- tion Square. They took pic- tures of the Jose Marti Monument, where President Obama laid a floral during his recent visit there. They also saw the baseball stadium where he and his family saw the Rays play and win. They also saw the hotel in down- town Havana where the Presi- dent went dining and dancing.
