FAMU Students Receive The Samuel And Alma Kinsey Endowed Scholarship
Last Saturday, two FAMU students (Regine Swanson and Malawi Hills) received the Samuel and Alma Kinsey Scholarship.
Regine Swanson is cur- rently a sophomore with a 3.36 GPA, majoring in Pre- Architecture. She is the daughter of Johanne Remy, and is a 2017 gradu- ate of Tampa Bay Technical High School.
Malawi Hills is cur- rently a senior with a 3.29 GPA, majoring in Informa- tion Technology. He is the son of Malawi and Carla Hills. Malawi is a graduate of Tampa Bay Technical High School, Class of 2015. Both students were selected by FAMU for their academic success in the classroom.

we made a $6,000 donation to the Matthew Bien-Aime Endowed Scholarship Fund at FAMU to honor Matt, my nephew’s best friend who was killed in a vehicle acci- dent while driving back to FAMU. Matt’s scholarship is also a $25,000 endowed fund. The scholarship is for high school graduating sen- iors from Tampa that would like to attend FAMU.
“My family and I are very happy to give back to stu- dents who are seeking to get an education from FAMU. Between the Samuel and Alma Kinsey, and the Lieutenant Colonel Rick Kinsey scholarships, we have been fortunate to pro- vide annual scholarships to students from the Tampa Bay Area,” Lt. Col. Kinsey said.

Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club Visits Schools

Members of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club vis- ited schools in observance of Veteran’s Day. They visited an elementary school and a high school.
On Thursday, November 8th, the group visited Shaw Elementary School in North Tampa. The following day, they were the guests at Haines City High School.
“During the events, mem- bers of the Motorcycle Club shared with the students the history behind Veteran’s Day. We also discussed why it is important to remember the men and women who have sacrificed so much to ensure freedom for Americans,” Roy “Seawolf” Nixon, Presi- dent of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club said.
Nixon further said that the veterans in the organiza- tion were recognized. The members made positive com- ments about the students, their enthusiasm, and “the great things they saw hap- pening at each school.”

principle of honoring the legacy of the original African American units of the 9th and 10th Cavalries that were es- tablished in 1866, and served on the western frontier dur- ing the years of the Indian Wars.
They honor the legacy by educating others and through service. The chapter is com- prised of more than 70 mem- bers and is led by Karen “Top 6” Chambers and Michael “Corp” Corpen- ing, President and Vice Pres- ident, respectively.
