Teddy Bridgewater Shows 'Toughness' In Return From Injury As Broncos Beat Chargers

    When Denver Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridge- water limped back into the huddle Sunday with a lower right leg injury, he helped the Broncos stay in the AFC's jumbled playoff race.
So much so that the Bron- cos, now 6-5 after a 28-13 win over the Los Angeles Charg- ers at Empower Field at Mile
High, will face the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday night at Arrowhead Stadium with a chance to move into first place in the AFC West.
"When you win it doesn't really matter what you're going through, you feel good,'' Bridgewater said. " ... We'll see how I feel in the morning.''
Grizzlies' Ja Morant Avoided Significant Knee Injury

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant avoided a serious knee injury but is expected to miss at least a "couple of weeks," coach Taylor Jenk- ins told reporters ahead of Sunday's game against the Sacramento Kings.
Jenkins said Morant avoided any tears or ligament damage to his left knee but added that there was no offi- cial timetable for his return.
"We're so thankful we avoided a significant injury," Jenkins said. "We expect a full recovery, and this is noth- ing long term that we're wor- ried about."
Morant suffered the left knee sprain in the first quarter of Friday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

Lee Elder, who broke down racial barriers as the first Black golfer to play in the Masters and paved the way for Tiger Woods and others to follow, has died at the age of 87.
The Texas native won four times on the PGA Tour, in- cluding the 1974 Monsanto Open that earned him the ini- tial invite to the Masters Tour- nament.
Elder said he received threats leading up to his first appearance at the Masters, ul- timately renting two houses so people wouldn't know where he was staying.
In 2021, he was celebrated by the tournament as an hon- orary starter alongside Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player and received a large ovation from the crowd.

Morneau, Joe Nathan, David Ortiz, Jonathan Pa- pelbon, Jake Peavy, Andy Pettitte, A.J. Pierzynski, Manny Ramirez, Alex Ro- driguez, Scott Rolen, Jimmy Rollins, Curt Schilling, Gary Sheffield, Sammy Sosa, Mark Teix- eira, Omar Vizquel, Billy Wagner.
The list includes 13 new players and 17 holdovers from the 30 previously considered by the Hall. Much of the focus will be on Bonds, Schilling, Sosa and Clemens in their final year of eligibility on the Baseball Writers Association of America ballot.
