GREGORY JAMES WALKER 8/17/1954 —- 2/19/2015
Police have arrested a 38- year-old man and charged him with second-degree murder.
The man is said to have called 9-1-1 Thursday after- noon and said he had killed someone.
When Tampa Police ar- rived at 5603 N. 32nd Street, they found Gregory James Walker, 60, with upper body trauma. Tampa Fire Rescue responded to the scene and determined that Walker was alive and had a pulse.
Walker was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
As detectives continued their investigation, they de- termined that the man who
GREGORY MORAN, JR. ... Charged with second- degree murder
called 9-1-1 was Gregory Moran, Jr., of the same ad- dress. They also learned that Moran had allegedly beaten Walker, who was his father, with a cane.
Police said there was a previous domestic violence complaint. However, they have not determined what led up to the murder was do- mestic related.
Moran was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder. He is being held at the Hillsbor- ough County Jail without bond.
The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office said Walker’s family had not selected a funeral home to handle arrangements as of press time.

Jefferson Moves On To State Semi-Finals With Win
THE JEFFERSON DRAGON BASKETBALL TEAM
Front row: Patrick Scott, Jr., Cesar Delatorre, Tim Green, Vernon Jackson, Maliq Lawrence, and Mathew Sharpe. Second row: Jackie More, Altorian Salary, Eugene Thomas, DeAndre Demanze, head coach Eric Hayes, Cameron Padgett, Taj Jenkins, Maurice Moore,
and Stephon Lofton.
Nothing is sweeter than securing a spot in the state semi-finals on your home floor.
Jefferson High School boys basketball head coach, Eric Hayes, knows that sweet taste as his team se- cured a seat in the state semi- finals with a 73-72 comeback win against Lehigh in the Class 6A-Regional 3 final.
With 38.4 seconds left in regulation, Lehigh had a 72- 66 lead. But, the Dragons scored the final seven points
to pull out the win. Lehigh didn’t help their cause by committing turnovers on in- bound passes that set up back-to-back scores for the Dragons.
The win is Jefferson’s first appearance in a regional final since 1974.
Lehigh had possession of the ball with 4.1 seconds left, and the Dragons put on a full-court press that forced a traveling call.
Seconds later, Maurice Moore put in the winning
layup.
Moore led Jefferson with
18 points and Taj Jenkins had 15.
Also, Stephone Lofton and Vernon Jackson each scored 10 points for the Drag- ons.
Hayes urged his players on by telling them a lot can happen in 38 seconds and for them to play hard.
Jefferson will travel to Lakeland to play the state semi-finals against Norland from Miami Friday.
