Tampa Bay Association Of Black Journalists To Meet Saturday
Paint Your Heart Out
On Saturday, April 18th, thousands of volunteers went throughout the city painting and doing minor repairs to more than 100 homes for the elderly during the annual “Paint Your Heart Out Tampa” event. (PHOTOS BY BRUNSON)
New officers elected
George Tinsley and the Tinsley Group will host Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists (TBABJ) meeting on Saturday, May 2, 2015.
The monthly chapter meeting will be held at Tins- ley’s T.G.I.F. restaurant on the second floor of Tampa In- ternational Airport starting at 11 a. m.
Those planning to attend should RSVP by April 30th to tampabayabj@gmail.com.
There will also be a TBABJ’s May 6 networking mixer at Bar Louie in the In- ternational Plaza, 2223 N. Westshore Blvd., Tampa.

Grandchildren Write Touching Letter After Man Injured

was just so touched by it,” he said with tears in his eyes.
The letter is entitled,
“You Ought To Be Grate- ful —- Why Bad Things Happen to Good people.” It was dated December 2, 2014.
It reads in part, ““You Ought To Be Grateful —- Why Bad Things Happen to Good people? You may wonder that. But God has a purpose for everything. You might say ‘why me,’ don’t doubt, have faith. God does these things to get people’s attention.
“...Like yesterday, I found out that my papa was in the hospital with three broken ribs, bleeding on his brain, and a blood clot in one of his
lungs. It was a lot to take in, seeing that he is my best friend. ... I’m grateful that my papa is still living and that he’s going to recover. I’m re- ally glad that the tragic wasn’t worse. ...
“I see things like this on the news every day. But, I do admit that I don’t really take it too seriously. Now, I know how it feels to have someone you love be hurt.”
Deacon White said the girls are 13 and 10 years old and are honor students. The family attends Greater Friendship M. B. Church.
Deacon White is mar- ried to Mrs. Margaret White and is the father of 4. He is a retired longshoreman.

Deacon Anthony White has already under- gone several surgeries and more lie ahead. The injuries were caused by a car accident last November.
Although Deacon White recovered enough to walk with a cane, he still remem- bers the accident that has left him in critical condition. But, what he remembers even more is the letter that his granddaughters, Jasmyn and Jordyn wrote while he was hospitalized.
Deacon White said, “While I was sick, my grand- daughters wrote me a letter. I
