Apple Is Interfering With Jay Z’s Music Streaming Service
JAY Z
Music-industry sources say Apple is interfering with Jay Z’s music-streaming service Tidal in an attempt to crush it ahead of the relaunch of Apple’s Beats Music, set for June.
Last week it emerged that Tidal, following its March 30 launch, has fallen out of the iPhone top 700 apps. But po- sitioning in the app charts is driven by downloads, and ac- cording to our source, Apple “deliberately took a long time to approve Tidal iOS app up- dates. Tidal had a new app on Android on April 15, but still hasn’t received approval for Apple’s iOS app store.”
Robert Kondrk, vice president of iTunes Content, has also declared war on artists who sign up with Tidal. A source said, “Robert told execs at Universal Music Group that Rihanna and other Tidal artists’ music would not be promoted as fea- tured artists on iTunes if they put exclusive music out on Tidal.”
The source added that after Rihanna’s song “American Oxygen” debuted on Tidal, there were technical problems with her music on iTunes. The source explained, “Rihanna’s songs were scrambled and were out of commission for periods of time.”
Dame Dash Sues His Ex Wife For $2.5M
Director In Sheroes Series
Ava Duvernay and the Barbie in her honor.
Last week, Dame Dash lost his children to his ex-wife Rachel Roy in court, but the former Roc mogul is looking to return fire in another way.
Dash filed a $2.5 million breach of contract lawsuit stating that she interfered with the distribution of funds to him rooted in a pair of fashion companies they

started jointly.
Mattel has turned Ava DuVernay into a Barbie doll.
According to reports, Barbie revealed that they’re honoring six “Sheroes–” women who inspire girls by “breaking boundaries and expanding possibilities for women everywhere.”
DuVernay is the poster child of breaking boundaries. She is the first Black female director to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. She also has the type of power that lifts other just like her up.
Ava founded the
African-American Film Fes- tival Releasing Movement, which promotes film-making among people of color. If anyone deserves to be la- beled a shero, it’s her.
DuVernay's Barbie (which has her skin tone and signature hair style, and a face that appears to be mod- eled after her own features) is being embraced by black parents who notoriously struggle to find dolls that look like their daughters.
The Shero celebration culminated on National #Shero Day, which was on Monday, April 27.
