tinuing, Ms. Clayton said. Mitchell, who graduated with the first graduating class at the new Howard W. Blake High School (1999), was a
member of the band.
One classmate, Brent
Solomon, a journalist, had
this to say about Mitchell: “I’ve known Danny since we attended high school in 1998. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off of his back. He loved singing, playing the piano, and encour- aging others through the word of God.
“This sudden death comes as a complete shock, as Danny was an admirable person who always made the best of every situation. My prayers are with his young daughter and family. My hope is they will take com- fort in the lasting impression he left on so many lives and his smile that lit up whatever at- mosphere he encountered.”

City To Hold Second Community Meeting For West Tampa CRA
The City of Tampa is in the process of creating a new Com- munity Redevelopment Area (CRA) in West Tampa, and will hold the second of two com- munity meetings this Thurs- day, April 30, 2015.
The meeting will provide the community with the op- portunity to give feedback on the preliminary redevelopment plan as well as continue identi- fying community concerns and other efforts that could im- prove West Tampa. The meet- ing, which is free and open to the public, begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, at 2200 N. Oregon Ave.
Mayor Bob Buckhorn said, “Together, the redevelopment plan will reflect our best efforts on how we can improve the West Tampa community. A CRA for West Tampa will allow us to invest in needed infra- structure, improve our public
spaces, and combat blight that will drive economic opportu- nity for the area. Right now, as we finalize this plan and pre- pare to move forward with the creation of the CRA, is when we need the community most engaged.”
At Thursday’s meeting, the community will be able to dis- cuss and give feedback on the preliminary draft of the West Tampa Community Redevel- opment Area plan, which is available online at tamapgov.net.
The preliminary redevelop- ment plan will incorporate input gathered at both com- munity meetings, along with data and recommendations from plans developed over past years.
Once the plan is complete, Tampa City Council would then consider a “Finding of Necessity” to create the CRA, and if approved, will adopt an
ordinance officially establish- ing the West Tampa CRA and a special trust fund to improve the area. The process will occur over the next two months and is expected to be completed by late June 2015.
The boundary of the pro- posed West Tampa CRA is the Hillsborough River on the east; Armenia Avenue on the west; Columbus Drive on the north; and, Kennedy Boulevard to the south.
West Tampa joins the other existing Community Redevel- opment Areas in Tampa: Cen- tral Park Village, Channel District, Downtown, Drew Park, East Tampa, Tampa Heights Riverfront, and Ybor City. Each of the CRAs use a portion of property taxes col- lected within the areas to fi- nance improvements outlined in their respective Community Redevelopment Plans.
