This program is a musical adventure that uses powerful storytelling, historical facts and vocal performance to trace the creation and development of the Negro Spiritual as a distinct American Art Form. Spanning the 1600s to the present, Dr. Naima Johnston Bush uses her dynamic voice to present a musical lecture that explores the impact and influence of African American Spiritual Music in all musical genres today.
