Black History: A Salute To The 44th President Barack Obama
In his second inauguration address, Obama proclaimed that "while freedom is a gift from God, it must be secured by His people here on Earth".
He called for laws to combat climate change, en- actment of immigration reform and gun control.
President Obama stated that more progress was needed on human rights and civil rights (in- cluding racial minority rights, women's rights, and LGBT rights) and vowed to promote democracy abroad, and stated that the United States must "be a source of hope to the poor, the sick, the marginal- ized, the victims of prejudice" around the world.
In his second term, Obama took steps to com- bat climate change, signing a major international climate agreement and an executive order to limit carbon emissions.
President Obama also presided over the im- plementation of the Affordable Care Act and other legislation passed in his first term.
