Local Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Gamma Theta Omega Chapter Awards $21,000 In Scholarships
Over her 76 years of serv- ice in this community, Gamma Theta Omega Chap- ter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars to stu- dents in Hillsborough County. The Chapter is pleased to continue this tra- dition by awarding $21,000 in scholarships to 20 high achieving students at the 2017 Miss Teenage Tampa Scholarship Awards Recep- tion.
The Reception was held on Sunday, April 30, 2017, 4 p.m. at New Hope Mission- ary Baptist Church’s Chris- tian Life Center. Former State Representative, Dis- trict 61, Edward Narain was the guest speaker.
Heritage Scholars Award recipients were: Zachary Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Iva) Carter, who will attend the Univer- sity of Florida; Andreyne
Ms. Deborah Barnes, President Gamma Theta Omega Chapter, Andreyne Frye, Samuel Smith, Nicole Lewis, Zachary Carter, Meagan-Alexis Robinson, Mrs. Tangela D. Dupree, 2nd Vice President, General Chairman of MTAT and Scholarships, Gamma Theta Omega Chapter.
Florida. Teanna Pittman, Chanel Waters and Brandi Wimbush will at- tend Hillsborough Commu- nity College.
The 2017 Miss Teenage Tampa Scholarship Pageant award recipients were: Er- rDaisha Floyd, the reign- ing 2017 MTAT, Amiya Sloan, 1st Runner-Up, Jada Kennedy, 2nd Runner-Up, Kayla Blaine, 3rd Runner- Up, Talia Sharrieff, Miss Congeniality, Alexis Wheatley, Spirit Award and 4th Runner-Up, JaDoni Smith, Talent Award, Cierra Celerin, Marcayla Jacobs and Kayla Kennedy.
The scholarship awards were presented by Deborah K. Barnes, President, Gamma Theta Omega and the 2017 Miss Teenage Tampa General Chairman and 2nd VP, Gamma Theta Omega Chapter, Tangela D. DuPree.
