Saunders Library Foundation To Honor AKA Sorority On March 7th
The Robert W. Saunders Public Library and the RWS Library Foundation, Inc. will present the “LAMP OF KNOWLEDGE AWARD” to the Gamma Theta Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. on Mon- day, March 7, 2016. The pres- entation will be made at the library, 1505 N. Nebraska Av- enue. The public is invited to attend the free event.
Local AKA Chapter Presi- dent Deb Barnes will re- ceive the award on behalf of the sorority, in recognition of the AKA's continuing role in helping keep Black History alive in Hillsborough County. The Sorority will present the history of the organization during the program.
The RWS Library Founda- tion began making presenta- tions of this award to local organizations and individuals in late 2015, soon after the new public library opened its doors. The 26,000-sq. ft. building has a theme that cel-
