USF Baseball Team Shuts Out FAMU Rattlers
On March 13th -15th the University of South Florida Base- ball team hosted Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. In the first game the Bulls jumped ahead with 4 runs in the 1st inning en route to a 10-5 win.
The Rattler's best offense came in the 9th inning when Alec Wong hit a double to center field, which drove in runners Robby Jolley and Taylor Strauss.
In the second game FAMU could not get the bats connect- ing, which resulted in a 4-1 lost. In the final game, the Bulls dominated on both sides of the ball.
Freshman Joe Cavallaro stuck out a career high seven bat- ters in seven innings. USF closed out the weekend with a 5-0 shutout. (Photographs by Toby Scott, of Chow & Scott Keep- sakes)
FAMU Alumni Carolyn Collins enjoyed the game.
Marlon Gibbs, #42, had no problems stealing 2nd base.
Stacy Pough (FAMU catcher 1986-1990), and Kevin Douglas (1987-1991), reminisced about the good old days.
Jared Walker, #5, had an outstanding season for the Rattlers. He is batting .333, with 4 steals.
Rattlers, Reggie Anderson (1977-1981), Tony Bell (1968-1972) and James Green attended the baseball game hosted by USF.
