55 People Die During 6 Months Of Violence

During the period of 6 months, from January 1st through June 30th of this year, 55 people have died as a result of violence. Some of the cases were not prose- cuted for various reasons.
This information pertains to deaths within the City of Tampa and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Hillsborough County Murders
In Hillsborough County, 29 people died at the hand of violence. Those deaths in- cluded 3 women and 26 men, with an age range of 16 to 75 years of age. 19 of those cases have been solved.
In most instances, the names of the victims were not released due to Marsey's Law. However, in other cases, the family gave per- mission for the name to be released in hopes of solving the crime.
On January 4th, a 21- yearold man was killed while at 7802 Rideout Road. No ar- rest was made and the death has been ruled self-defense.
On January 10th, police responded to 5605 Gibson Ave. A 24-year-old man had
been fatally wounded and the case remains active.
The following day, deputies responded to the in- tersection of Lumsden Road and Brandon Parkway.
The victim was 55-year- old Cpl. Brian LaVigne who was killed in a traffic ac- cident. Travis Garrett was arrested and charged.
Deputies responded to 812 Providence Trace Court in Brandon to investigate the death of a 29-year-old man. The case remains active.
On January 21st, police investigated two deaths at 6120 Pelican Creek Circle in Riverview. The victims were a 20-year-old man and a 29- year-old woman. Jerome Knight was arrested.
The next murder took place on February 7th. A 25- year-old man died at 5615 W. O. Griffin Road in Plant City. The case remains active.
On the same date, police responded to 4949 Marbrisa Dr. The victim was a 14-year- old and the suspect, Jose Ortiz was arrested.
On February 8th a 47- year-old man died at 6014 Harwell Estates Drive in Dover. Jaheem Walters, 47, was arrested.
A 29-year-old man died on February 10th, while at 602 Falkenburg Rd. The death was ruled self-defense.

place on February 17th. It took place at 933 124th Ave.
The first murder in March took place on the 7th of the month. The victim was a 21-year-old woman. Ledsuy Sanchez Sanchez was ar- rested in the domestic vio- lence related case.
A 50-year-old man died on March 11th. Hunter Ear- good was arrested and charged in the case.
On March 18th, police re- sponded to 201 8th Street, NE, in Ruskin. The victim was a 20-year-old man. A man was identified in the case that was ruled self-de- fense.
A 31-year-old man died on March 26th. Bianca Marchand was arrested in the domestic violence case.
On April 2nd, a 27-year- old man died. The case re- mains active.
Andy Dominguez Hernandez was arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 50-year- old man. The death took place at 6003 Clifton Street.

JEROME KNIGHT ...charged with murder
death of a 20-year-old man in the 5001 block of Memo- rial Highway. The case re- mains active. It took place April 18th.
A 75-year-old man died on April 23rd while at 9910 Sheldon Road. Orbo Baily was arrested and charged in the case.
Police investigated the death of a 35-year-old man on April 28th at 605 2nd Ave. N.E., Gibsonton. Jason Hartness was arrested in the case.
Angel Hernandez- Tellez was arrested and charged with the death of a 22-year-old man. It took place May 9th at 10102 Lula Street, in Gibsonton.
On May 17th a 24-yearold man died. The case remains open.
Police responded to 9719 Princess Palm Avenue in ref- erence to the death of a 36- year-old man. Christian Pabon was arrested.
A 66-year-old woman died on May 29th. Debra Patton was arrested in the domestic violence related

... Charged with murder that took place in April
case.
On May 30th, a 19-year-
old man was killed in the 10310 block of Zackary Cir- cle, in Riverview. Jasiah Dillard was arrested.
A 31-year-old man died on June 7th. The suspect also died in the murder-suicide case.
Police have arrested 43- year-old Curtis James in July in connection with the murder that took place at Waters Avenue and Ander- son Road. The victim was a 52-year-old man.
On June 12th police re- sponded to the intersection of Highway 579 and Joe Ebert Road in reference to a murder. The victim was a 44- year-old man. The case re- mains active.
Police investigated a mur- der-suicide that left a 40- year-old woman dead. The suspect is also deceased.
On June 23rd, police re- sponded to 204 Manatee Dr., in Ruskin, in reference to the death of a 16-year-old victim. Jesus Magana was ar- rested.
