Local Group To Perform African Version Of ‘Cinderella’
Tampan To Be Recognized At Honors Convocation
Wilbert Malphus, III, a student at Alcorn State Univer- sity, will be among students who will be recognized as a ‘dean’s scholar’ on Thursday, March 23, 2017, for their academic achievements. The letter sent to family members says, “Wilbert will be honored for his grade point average of 3.5-3.99 within a single semester...”
Alcorn will have its 75th Bian- nual Honors Convocation, which gives the university the opportunity to recognize the high academic achievement of its students.

KUUMBA DANCERS AND DRUMMERS
The Kuumba Dancers and Drummers will be performing an African version of Cin- derella on Sunday, March 26, 2017, when they present Ti- mini.

Bus Trip To Harry T. Moore Museum
The Tampa Florida Chapter of the Afro-American Historical Genealogical Society is sponsoring a bus trip to tour the Harry T. Moore Museum in Mims, Florida.
The trip is planned for Saturday, May 20, 2017, but the deadline to reserve a seat is April 25, 2017. For additional information, contact Andria Wimberly, (813) 907-6978.
Moore, a civil rights activist and president of the Brevard County branch of the NAACP, was killed along with his wife, Harriette, on Christmas Eve in 1951 after a bomb was placed under their home.

A Celebration To Honor Elder George Streets’ 60 Years In Gospel Ministry
The Palm River Church of God in Christ, Elder Willie Fowler, Pastor, was the site of the celebration to honor Elder George Streets, Sr. and his 60 years in gospel ministry. In addition to being musician, who played several instruments, Elder Streets sang and many groups and was a messenger of the gospel. (Photos by Julia Jackson)

George Shivers of the Exciting Gospel Warriors and his wife, Noretta Shivers, gave a tribute to Elder Streets.
Kathy Henry was the Mistress of Cere- mony for the program.
Elder Willie Fowler also gave comments.
