Recipes From Tonia Turner Halloween
Tips For Your Little Ghouls And
Walk Safely
• Cross the street at corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks.
• Look left, right and left again when crossing and keep looking as you cross.
• Put electronic devices down and keep heads up and walk, don’t run, across the street.
• Teach children to make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of them.
• Always walk on sidewalks or paths. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic as far to the left as possible. Children should walk on direct routes with the fewest street crossings.
• Watch for cars that are turning or backing up. Teach children to never dart out into the street or cross between parked cars.
Trick Or Treat With An Adult
• Children under the age of 12 should not be alone at night without adult supervision. If kids are mature enough to be out without supervision, they should stick to familiar areas that are well lit and trick-or-treat in groups.
Keep Costumes Both Creative & Safe
• Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors.
• Choose face paint and makeup whenever possi- ble instead of masks, which can obstruct a child’s vision.
• Have kids carry glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers.
• When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls.
Creepy Teeth Treats
4 Honeycrisp apples - cored and quartered Slivered almonds
DIRECTIONS: With a small, sharp paring knife, cut a lengthwise wedge from the skin side of each apple quarter, leaving the peel around the wedge for lips. If desired, rub the cut portions of the apple quarters with lemon juice to prevent browning.
Poke 5 or 6 slivered almonds into the top and bottom of the cut- out area to make creepy teeth.
Mummy Dogs
1 tube Pillsbury Crescent rolls 10 hot dogs
ketchup
mustard
toothpicks Optional candy eyes
DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
Open the tube of rolls and divide them into 4 rectan- gles, gently pressing the diagonal perforations together. Use a pizza cutter to slice the rectangles into 10 strips, length-wise.
Wrap each hot dog with 4 strips of dough, overlap- ping to look like bandages. Leave a space towards the top for the eyes. Place the hot dogs on the baking sheet and bake 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
In a small, flat dish, fill it with ketchup. Using the mustard make a swirl. Use a toothpick to drag through the mustard, starting at the center and dragging to the
outside edge. Repeat, spacing each line about an inch apart.

Add one scoop of lime sherbet to the glass.
Add a few gummy worms to the glass and serve.
Rice Krispies Treats & Peeps Graveyard
1 Rice Krispies Treat Sheet 1 tub chocolate frosting
1 package Oreo cookies
1 tub vanilla frosting
1 tube black decorating gel 1 package of gummy worms 1 package each of Peeps
ghosts and pumpkins Other Items Needed headstone cookie cutter toothpicks
DIRECTIONS: Cut the treat sheet 2/3 of the way lengthwise and set aside the 1/3 piece of the treat sheet. Cut the cardboard to fit the 2/3 sized piece.
Spread chocolate frosting over the top and sides of the treat sheet. Use a food processor or blender to crush the cookies and spread them over the frosting. Press them into the frosting so they stick. Using the 1/3 piece of treat sheet, cut out 3 headstones with the cookie cutter.
In a small bowl, mix 1/3 cup of the white frosting with half the tube of black gel to create a grey frosting and spread it over the front of each headstone. Use the remaining black gel to write RIP on each headstone. Place a toothpick into the treat sheet towards the back, evenly spaced apart. Press each headstone onto
the toothpicks so they stand up without falling over. Repeat that with the ghosts and pumpkins. Cut the gummy worms in half and place them on the Oreo "dirt".
