BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
The Gallery on the Boule- vard at North Tampa Branch Library will display student art work created by the Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School AP Drawing and AP 2D Studio students.
The work shows a variety of different styles and tech- niques. During the first se- mester students experiment with several different art styles. In this display, there will be examples of Pointil- lism, Cubism, Pop Art, Non- Objective, and Modern Art. In addition there will be col- lage, charcoal, pencil, ink, wa- tercolor and acrylic materials used.
The majority of these stu- dents are also members of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) and were inducted 2 weeks ago.
Mrs. Madeliyann “Cookie” Mitchell is the in- structor for these students and currently teaches Paint- ing, Drawing, Ceramics, AP 2D Studio, AP Drawing and Research at Brooks DeBar- tolo.
Having been at the school 3 years (she spent 7 years at King High School in a similar position), Mrs. Mitchell is excited to have the work of her students on display.
“We’ll have the works of about 22 of our students on display. They’re members of the newly-formed Art Society of which I am the sponsor,” she said.
In addition to being the art teacher, she is also the Boys and Girls Varsity Volley- ball Coach.
These are the students inducted into the National Art Honor Society 2 weeks ago. Most of these students’ work is hanging in the library.
