Football Coach Charged With Sex Crime Involving Student

Four Arrested In Fight With Bats, Guns And Knives
The girlfriend of a man killed in a stand-your-ground case in July is pregnant with his child. The couple already had two children.
According to her attorney, Ms. Brittany Jacobs, girl- friend of the late Markeis McGlockton, announced the pregnancy during a news con- ference. The child is due in February.
McGlockton was killed in July after Ms. Jacobs pulled into a handicapped spot at a convenience store.
Ms. Jacobs was waiting in the car when she was ap- proached by 47-year-old Michael Drejka. The two be- came engaged in an argument over Ms. Jacobs parking in the handicap space, police said.
Witnesses alerted the clerk about the argument in the parking lot. At that point, Mc- Glockton went outside the store, and walked over to Drejka. Witnesses told police
McGlockton forcibly pushed Drejka and Drejka fell to the ground.
While on the ground in a sit- ting position, Drejka pulled a handgun and fired one shot at McGlockton, hitting him in the chest. McGlockton died as a result of his injuries. Drejka had a concealed weapon permit at the time of the killing. Drejka was not ar- rested at the time of the shoot- ing.
After reviewing the case, At- torney McCabe’s office is- sued a warrant for Drejka’s arrest on August 13th. He was charged with manslaughter with an enhancement because of the gun.
Ms. Jacobs hired re- nowned Attorney Benjamin Crump to represent her in the civil case.
The incident had uproar throughout the nation. It also brought back to the forefront, Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law.

ORA FARLOW
An employee of the Hills- borough County School Dis- trict surrendered to police last week. He was charged with one count of being an Author- ity Figure soliciting or engag- ing in sexual conduct with a student.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place on De- cember 6th, around 10:30 a.m. Melvin Jenkins is ac- cused of contacting a student and having her come to his classroom.
Once she arrived, he is al- leged to have repeatedly ques- tioned her and touched her inappropriately. The following day, police conducted an inter- view with Jenkins and he ad- mitted to having texted the girl and being alone with her in the classroom.
Jenkins, who is a football coach at Spoto High School, surrendered to police on De- cember 20. The investigation is continuing.

Four people were taken into custody after being in- volved in a large fight. The in- cident took place Thursday night in Winter Haven.
According to police, offi- cers responded to the home of Tyrique Laskett and his girlfriend, Ja’raia Farlow, both 18, after calls were re- ceived that a large fight was underway. Police were told that the people fighting were using baseball bats, guns and knives.
By the time officers ar- rived, those involved in the fight had left the scene. How- ever, they discovered that Laskett suffered from in- juries to his head, face, and upper body.
Police located the suspects a short distance away in a Publix parking lot and took them into custody. Ms. Quatisha Farlow, 39, of Miami, mother of Ja’raia Farlow, who was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She is ac- cused of driving from Miami with other family members to the home of her daughter and her boyfriend. The family did not approve of the relation- ship.
Police said Ms. Farlow went to her vehicle and had her 12-year-old son retrieve a Glock handgun. She then pointed it at Laskett, putting
him in fear for his life.
Ora Farlow was arrested
and charged with 1 count of battery. He is the father of Ja’raia Farlow, and did not approve of the relationship or the couple living together and that is why the family re- sponded, police said.
Ms. Shierra Spillman, girlfriend of Ora Farlow, was charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She report- edly struck Laskett and also struck his sister with her ve- hicle.

(the aunt) was also charged with 1 count of battery.
Laskett told police in a sworn statement that Ora Farlow and his girlfriend knocked on his front door. Tyrique and Ja’raia an- swered.
Ms. Spillman is alleged to have pulled Ja’raia out- side against her will. Ora Farlow began to physically beat Laskett. Ms. Spill- man then allegedly struck Laskett on the left side of the head with a baseball bat.
Ora Farlow is alleged to have continually beat Las- kett as he and his girlfriend attempted to force Ja’raia into the vehicle. Once the fight started, Ms. Shanora Farlow struck Laskett in the stomach.
