Saturday, 2/14 from 2-3 p. m. - Black History-Central Avenue Remembered - Cov- ering from 1930’s when 100 black owned businesses lined the stretch of the road. Come view the film, listen to gospel
singers and taste Soul Food recipes. This will be held at Seminole Public Library.
Saturday, 2/14 from 4-6 p. m. – Discussion about Ever- lasting Love: African Ameri- cans of Tampa - local author, Ersula Odom will speak at the FL History and Geneal- ogy Library about her new book. There will be a Burgert Brothers Photographic Col- lection and a book signing after the program. This will be held at the John F. Ger- many Library.
Friday, 2/20 from 3:30- 4:30 p. m. - Celebrate Black History Month with a film ex- ploring rich history of Tampa’s Central Avenue be- tween 1930-1960. Important figures appeared on Central Avenue such as Hank Bal- lard, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Butterfly Mc- Queen and others. This will be held at John F. Germany Library (auditorium).
Chess Nut Society
The Chess Nut Society meets at Riverview Public Li- brary on the 1st and 3rd Sat- urdays from 10 a. m. -12 noon. The next date will be February 21, 2015. Come out and challenge your skills or learn how to play. The Na- tional Champions, the
