Organizations To Host Red & White Pre-Valentine’s Day Extravaganza

The Leon McQuay Help Me Get There Foundation in association with Lee Muzik Group, LLC will be presenting a glamorous night of music, food and entertainment for couples to kick off the Valen- tine’s weekend.
This event will be hosted by Leon and Angie Mc- Quay of The Leon McQuay Help Me Get There Founda- tion. This foundation helps at-risk teens qualify for col- lege scholarships through sports, life mentorship and
academic intervention.
Lee Muzik Group, LLC will donate a portion of the proceeds to this wonderful
organization.

AKA South Atlantic Regional Conference Set For Orlando
Sorority members ex- pected to deliver more than $4.5 million to local commu- nity April 15-19th
Orlando — Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Monday announced it will hold its 62nd South Atlantic Regional Conference April 15-19, 2015 in Orlando, at the Rosen Shingle Creek. Nearly 5,000 members from Florida, Geor- gia and South Carolina are expected to attend, delivering an economic impact of more than $4.5 million to the I-4 Corridor and the Central Florida community.
During the conference, members will focus on five key program target areas that address educational enrich- ment, family strengthening, health awareness, environ- mental ownership and global impact issues.
Members will also collect and distribute back packs in support of the sorority’s 1 million backpack initiative. Other special activities are also planned for family mem- bers, guests and the commu- nity, including a HBCU college fair at Walt Disney World Resort®.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Soror- ity, Inc. is the oldest Greek- letter organization established in America by
black women and was founded on January 15, 1908, at Howard University. Led by International President Dorothy Buckhanan Wil- son, the organization con- nects thousands of college-trained women who give of themselves to support community service projects and scholarship programs.
Hostess chapters for the South Atlantic Regional Con- ference, consist of eleven graduate chapters and three undergraduate chapters from the Space Coast to Ft. Myers. The South Atlantic Region is noted as the largest of the 10 regions in the sorority
The region, under the leadership of Regional Direc- tor Sharon Brown Har- riott of Columbia, South Carolina, is comprised of 165 graduate and undergraduate chapters and 10,000 mem- bers. With a membership in- ternationally of over 265,000 women, the sorority has more than 986 chapters in the United States, the Caribbean, Canada, Ger- many, Japan, Korea and Africa. Special recognition will be given to members who have served the sorority for 25, 50 and 75 years.
