Police Seeking Information In Murder Of Tampa Man
Police Search For Man Linked To Triple Shooting
The Tampa Police Depart- ment is conducting a homi- cide investigation into the death of a 53-year-old man. The homicide, which is the first one of the year for the agency, took place late Satur- day.`
Police responded to the in- tersection of 15th Street and Elm Avenue shortly before 10:30 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived at the scene, they learned that William “Bill” Denham, of Tampa, was suffering from upper body trauma. He was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses told police that two white or Hispanic men and a white or Hispanic woman attacked Denham in the middle of North 15th Street and E. Elm Avenue. After they punched him sev- eral times, rendering him un- conscious, the individuals walked toward Sligh Avenue.

Police have obtained an ar- rest warrant for Saveion Barbery in connection with the shooting. They are also searching for a second suspect in connection with the mur- der.

Body Of Young Girl Found In Ditch
The Tampa Police Depart- ment is currently investigating the death of a 15-year-old girl. Her body was found in a ditch in the F0rest Hills area on Wednesday.
Police have not released the identity of the girl, but said she died of an apparent self-in- flicted gunshot wound. Detec- tives are attempting to determine if her death was ac- cidental or intentional.
Her body was found shortly before 3 p.m., in a ditch be- tween W. Bougainvillea Av- enue near Seneca Avenue and west of Ola Avenue. The inves- tigation is continuing.

Teenager Riding Bicycle Injured In Drive-By Shooting
A 17-year-old teenager be- came the victim of a drive-by shooting Sunday evening. He was riding a bicycle in the area of N. 51st Street and E. 32nd Av- enue.
According to police, Tony A. King was riding his bicycle when he observed an older model silver Nissan Altima drive near him. He observed
the windows roll down and then heard numerous gun- shots. He was struck in the foot by one of the projectiles as the car drove away.
King was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation into the shooting is continuing, police said.
Man Charged With Murder Of Co-Worker
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Tuesday and charged him with the death of his co-worker. The two men were working in an unincorpo- rated area when the murder took place. Police
was ar- rested and charged with sec- ond-degree murder.
Woman Gets 3 Years For ID Theft, Public Benefit Fraud
According to police, shortly after 1 p.m., Tuesday, deputies responded to the Southern Com- fort Mobile Home Park, 24479 U. S. Highway 19 North, in refer- ence to a shooting.
Upon arrival, they discovered 51-year-old Gregory M. Perry, of Kissimmee, lying in the road- way. He suffered a gunshot wound and was unresponsive. Paramedics transported Perry to Mease Countryside Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
Witnesses identified the shooter as 41-year-old Clifton Lamont Moody, of Largo. They also told police that Moody fled the scene with the handgun.
Moody was located trying to leave the mobile home park. He

Robbery Suspect
Temporary Employment Agency in Largo. The two men became engaged in an argument on the job site.
Witnesses told police Perry was upset because Moody showed up to the work site in- toxicated and Perry felt Moody wasn’t working hard enough. During one of the arguments, Moody allegedly took out a handgun and shot Perry, police said.
Moody was transported to the Pinellas County Jail, where he was charged with second-de- gree murder and violation of probation.
A 36-year-old woman was sentenced to prison for aggra- vated identity theft, wire fraud, and making false state- ments to government agen- cies. She was sentenced in federal court in Tampa.
The Court also entered a money judgment of $36,355,93, which was deter- mined to be traceable pro- ceeds from the crime.
U. S. District Judge James D. Whittemore sentenced Ms. Peggy Washington, of Palmetto, to 3 years and 3 months in federal prison.
According to court docu- ments, Ms. Washington en- gaged in several different fraudulent schemes targeting recipients of public benefits programs and the agencies that administer those pro- grams. Officials said Ms. Washington and her ac- complices obtained stolen in- formation belonging to Social Security and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients.
The suspects then opened debit card accounts in the names of the victims. Ms.

Washington electronically diverted the Social Security checks and SNAP benefit pay- ments into the new accounts. She then withdrew the money for her own use, officials said.
In another scheme, the stolen identity information was used to file fraudulent federal income taxes. She also cashed those checks and used the money for her own bene- fit, officials said.
Officials said Ms. Wash- ington also submitted Sec- tion 8 Housing applications that misrepresented and con- cealed her assets, which re- sulted in a significant overpayment of benefits.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a man they be- lieve robbed the same store twice. The robberies hap- pened nine days apart.
According to police, on Jan- uary 9th, at approximately 2:50 a.m., the suspect forced the Speedway Clerk into the store at 13179 Highway 301, in Riverview. Once inside, he de- manded money and the clerk complied. The suspect then fled the store on foot.
On January 18th, at 2:44 a.m., an unknown suspect en- tered the same store and de- manded money from the registers. The clerk complied and the suspect fled the scene on foot.
The suspect is described as a Black man with a thin build. He was armed with a black handgun.
In both robberies, the sus- pect covered his face and wore an American Eagle gray hooded sweatshirt and tan pants.
