Serial Bank Robber Gets 10 Years In Prison

A federal judge has sen- tenced a serial bank robber to 10 years in prison. He pleaded guilty to the charge on May 6, 2019.
According to court docu- ments, Myron William Ernst, 61, of Orlando, com- mitted seven bank robberies and two attempted bank rob- beries between October and November 2018. The crimes were committed in Florida and Alabama.
During each incident, he presented the bank employee with a threatening note de- manding money.

Accident
A 31-year-old Tampa man died Monday after being in- volved in a motorcycle acci- dent. The accident took place in the 7800 block of Dale Mabry Highway, shortly after 1:30 p.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ms. Cari- dad S. Lopez, 78, was driv- ing a 2013 Toyota RAV 4 eastbound leaving the drive- way at 7814 Dale Mabry High- way, as Eric Frisco Diaz, of Tampa, was driving by on a 2018 Suzuki motorcycle.
Investigators said Ms. Lopez turned into the path of the motorcycle. As a result, Diaz suffered life threatening injuries and died at the scene.
The investigation is contin- uing and charges are pending.
      Two men have pleaded guilty to conspiracy to traffic in access device and to pos- sessing device-making equip- ment. Each is facing a maximum sentence of five years in federal prison.
According to the plea agreements, during the early morning hours of December 6, 2017, Yoandy Del Prado,

26, and Michel Verona Saavedra, 20, both of Hialeah, had credit card skim- ming devices in their posses- sion when stopped by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Of- fice. The deputies located two skimming devices in the back of the car, and a laptop com- puter. They also found five counterfeit credit cards with altered data information in the possession of Saavedra.
An investigation revealed that similar skimming devices were hidden inside of gas pumps at three gas stations in the immediate area, including a station that had been closed. Evidence was also obtained from the laptop computer.
No sentencing date has been set.
