Countywide Curfew To Stop Spread Of COVID-19
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
As the Sentinel goes to press, members of the Hills- borough County Emergency Policy Group, (EPG) met on Thursday afternoon and ap- proved the Safer-At-Home and restrictions orders. The two orders go into effect mid- night Friday. The members of the EPG voted 8-0 in favor of the order, but they are not call- ing the restrictions a curfew.
Earlier this week, the EPG agreed to move forward with drafting a countywide direc- tive and a curfew order.
Hillsborough County Com- missioner Les Miller, Jr., said, “We are going to talk about some changes to the directive. But, there are a lot of busi- nesses who are exempt. We have got to pass something for
James Stadium. “But we only have 900 test kits, so we are doing the best we can with what we have.”
The Curfew order would go into effect from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday through Friday, and a 24-hour curfew would begin at 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

The Innonce Project of Florida held its 2nd comedy event series in Tampa last month. “Stand Up For Com- edy” was held at the Hyde Park venue – Friday Morning Musi- cale. Atty. Lanse Scriven hosted the event for the second time.
Comedians who graced the stage for the event were: Dana Eagle, Dwayne Perkins and Craig Murphy.
Among those who assisted in sponsorship were:
Tyrone Keys and All Sports Community Service Founda- tion, and Junior Buccaneers, Inc. All proceeds from the com- edy event will provide critical funding for the Innocence Project of Florida’s efforts to find and free the innocent in Florida’s prisons.
The mission of the Inno- cence Project is to advocate for
the exoneration of innocent persons in Florida’s prisons, who have been wrongfully con- victed. Since the Innocence Project’s inception in 2003, 21 persons have been freed from Florida’s prisons, primarily through DNA evidence which proved their actual innocence. Those individuals collectively served over 460 years in prison for crimes they did not commit.
“A salute to Lanse Scriven for once again hosting The Innocence Project of Florida’s annual comedy show to raise funds to help those who have been wrongfully con- victed secure their freedom.
“The Innocence Project has only really been able ro exoner- ate these folks in the last 2 decades due to DNA testing. I shudder to think how many wrongfully imprisoned people died in prison over the years, or even worse, might have been executed,” Tyrone Keys ex- pressed.
