Tampa Bay Community Prepares For 5th Annual Girls Summit
‘You Deserve To Be Loved’ Girls Talk Regional Summit will reach girls in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties
The You Deserve To Be Loved Girls Summit led by Dr. Jeffery Johnson has served hun- dreds of girls since its inception in 2016.
Each year, hundreds of teenage girls and their parents have assembled for a one-day summit that includes workshops on: self-es- teem, financial literacy, vision casting, celebrity guest speakers, makeovers, and a fashion show.
The success of the summit has garnered much support across the region. For the first time, in 2020 the girl’s summit will be a Dis- trict-wide field trip in both Hillsborough and Pinellas County. This amazing collaboration is the first of its kind. An estimate of 1-2k teenage girls and their parents will benefit from this wonderful collaboration.
The summit is for girls that are in the 6th and 12th grade and their parents. The objective of the summit is to inspire young ladies to achieve their dreams while building their inner character and confidence to know they are worthy of respect and love.
Breakout sessions will include topics on self-esteem, entrepreneurship, social skills, fi- nancial literacy and more. The day will be filled with creative activities during workshops, dy- namic guest speakers from the community, empowering panel discussions, free food, makeovers, and the return of the highly antic- ipated fashion show.
Some of the youth attending will possibly come from single parent households, low-in- come neighborhoods, or have suffered from different forms of abuse or unthinkable living conditions. The summit’s mission is to inspire and uplift these young ladies, while educating parents, in a safe and constructive environ- ment. The event is open to all ethnicities and
faith-based backgrounds and will be held on March 6, 2020. The location is being deter- mined due to the expected attendance.
