LSU Wins The National Championship
Larry Fitzgerald Will Return For 17th Season With Cardinals
LARRY FITZGERALD
Larry Fitzgerald is deter- mined to fight off Father Time for as long as possible, and the veteran wide receiver will con- tinue with that battle in 2020.
Fitzgerald announced on Wednesday that he is returning for a 17th season with the Ari- zona Cardinals next year. While he was set to become a free agent, the 37-year-old has al- ready worked out a new deal with the team.
With a rookie quarterback under center this past season, Fitzgerald still managed to catch 75 passes for 804 yards and four touchdowns. He ap- peared in all 16 games for the fifth consecutive year, and his play really has not fallen off all that much.
LeBron James Passes Isiah Thomas For Eighth
The LSU Tigers beat the Clemson Tigers 42- 25 in an emphatic vic- tory on Monday night to seal their champi- onship.
The win ensured an unbeaten season from one of the more explo- sive offenses we’ve seen in the college game re- cently, one that lived up to its hype.

James' inexorable climb up the NBA's statistical lists con- tinued Monday against Cleve- land with his third-quarter dime to Danny Green, push- ing him past Pistons legend Isiah Thomas for eighth in career assists.

The National Title
Sign-Stealing Investigation
One has to appreciate the Ed Orgeron story of leading his home state team to a na- tional title, especially after USC didn’t feel like he was worthy of coaching the Trojans.
Yet here’s one thing that rubs people the wrong way: the coach picked up a nice $500,000 bonus for winning the national championship with a 42-25 victory over the Clemson Tigers on Monday night. That goes on top of the $1.25 million of the other bonuses he’s made this year and is added to his base salary that’s a cool $4 million. Not too shabby.
Sure, it’s great for a guy who works lots of hours and does everything he can to make sure his program is able to con- tend for a national champi- onship. His agent was able to get him a good deal and Coach O. made it happen. This is nothing against Coach O.

But it’s just gross that the players still get nothing for what they did to make LSU a national champion.
Coaches rake in all of these big bonuses because of what these kids put on the line for them is just hard to swallow. These players put their careers on the line every time they take the field (for free) and get very little back considering the numbers they bring in. An ed- ucation is nice, but you’re fool- ing yourself if you don’t think they should get some cash in their pockets, too.
The Boston Red Sox parted ways with Alex Cora Tuesday, after an MLB investigation into his role in the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal during the team’s 2017 World Series-win- ning season, according to re- ports.
Cora met Tuesday with Red Sox management.
