  All About You!
 IN THE SPOTLIGHT
  ERIKA
Taking us into what is going to be a beautiful holiday weekend is this week’s Spotlight feature, Erika. Erika is looking forward to a great year, and promises to reach heights she had only dreamed about before. Erika can be very casual when she is into her down-time, and she has no problem winding down with friends and family. This young lady is definitely going places, and we appreciate her allowing us to feature her as this week’s Spotlight fea- ture.

Historian Wants School Named For Carter G. Woodson
Tampa Historian Fred Hearns is leading a move- ment urging citizens to con- tact Hillsborough County School Board members and ask that they name the school that will combine North Tampa’s Cahoon Ele- mentary and Van Buren Middle Schools in honor of Dr. Carter Godwin Woodson – the acknowl- edged “Father of Black His- tory.”
The board will vote on the school name at its 3 p. m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018 meeting. “We need people to send letters or e-mails to the school board members and to attend the January meet- ing to support Dr. Wood- son,” Hearns said.
“Naming a school for Dr. Woodson will bring inter- national attention — includ- ing educational conferences and seminars — to Hillsbor- ough County,” Hearns said.
Send an e-mail in sup- port of naming the North Tampa school for Dr. Woodson to school board members: Chair, Sally Harris, Dist. 2, Vice Chair, Tamara Sham- burger, Dist. 5, Susan Valdes, Dist. 1, Melissa Shively, Dist. 4 Lynn L. Gray, Dist. 7, Cindy Stewart, Dist. 3, and April Griffin Dist. 6 to: Tiffany.Williams@sdhc. k12.fl.us.
