 The Transition Of Education
The day you were born God gave you a Gift. In Pre-K you learned your ABC’s and 123’s, which was a daunting task at that age. Onto Elemen- tary School you went, which was a new learning environment for you. You’ve learned how to read, complete equations, compose your thoughts, and tasted success.
Graduating from Ele- mentary School and then going onto Middle School, was an exciting adven- ture. Middle School added the need to com- prehend and follow rules and policies. Transform- ing and evolving as a stu- dent ready to give the next stage your best. You moved from the academic level to a level with new friends hungry and ready for the next test.
High School brought independent thinking and more academic and inter- personal skills. Now the big day is here, gradua- tion day. Not only were you tested academically with the Scholastic Apti- tude Test (SAT) and the American College Test (ACT), but also on how well you can put together all the educational skills
you learned to design your future.
It’s time to translate everything you learned from the monkey bars at recess to the geometry tests. It’s time to transi- tion yet again.
To the Class of 2018, in Polk County, the State of Florida and all over the country, I am so proud of all of you and excited about what you have yet to explore. You have taken the gift you have within you and accom- plished great things.
Even though you may have experienced highs, lows, obstacles, and changes you have com- pleted the primary task. You successfully com- pleted the course work and the assessment test to graduate. I have come to understand that success requires ongoing educa- tion. Be open to a contin- ued learning process. Gaining an education is an ongoing task filled with transitions which will add to your success.
Keep going and keep using your gift. Congratu-
lations!
