Author Set To Release 14th Book
Donald L. Dowridge, Jr., known as Tampa’s Mo- tivational Guru and Fred- erick Douglass, continues to pour out the motivation.
As an author, he began writing newspaper articles as a soldier in the U. S. Army. He was hired by The Monterey Seasider Newspa- per (Monterey, California) while stationed at Ft. Ord (which was also located in
Monterey) in 1981 to write a few articles. At the time, the articles were a cross be- tween Black Affairs, Politics and Untimely Deaths!
Since those many years have passed, Donald has continued to put pen to paper and has accumulated many writings that are too many to discuss in this arti- cle. In 1992 upon creating his company, DLD (Deter- mined to Learn and De-
velop) Enterprises, he pro- duced his very first success- ful book, “TRUTH IN THE POEM,” which contained thirty of his best poems (his poem collection totals 300 in all and Copyrighted with the Copyright Office in Washington, D. C.).
All of Donald’s books prior were self-published until book number thirteen in 2013. “THE POWER OF BEING A W-I-N-N-E-R,” was published by Dog Ear Publishing Company, housed in Indiana. With the release of TPOBAW, it would go on and enjoy tremendous success landing on Barnes & Nobles Number
1 List for Self-Help Motiva- tional Books. Also, it would lead to Donald doing a 14- State Book Tour, including Tampa and various cities in the state of Florida.
It’s now 2019, and he is back! Back with his antici- pated 14th book entitled, “MOTIVATIONAL MO- MENTS,” scheduled to make its debut on Friday, November 1st, 2019, just in time for the holidays. “M. Ms.” is compiled of motiva- tional stories that have been heard on local and national radio stations as The DLD MOTIVATIONAL MO- MENT. Donald’s motiva- tional stories have also appeared in newspapers and magazines throughout America.
Taking a year and a half for this book to come to fruition became a challenge that maybe it would not see this day. “It is said when GOD’s got a plan for you, be careful ‘cause the devil has a plan, too!” Thankfully, Donald withstood the storms that attempted to de- tour him from this commit- ted purpose and mission. He constantly gives Praise to Almighty GOD for the tenacity to stand strong dur- ing life’s mishaps and obsta- cles!
