Gunshot Victim Dropped Off At Hospital, Dies
Police Investigate Fatal East Tampa Shooting
Fatal shooting took place in the 6500 block of N. 40th Street Wednesday evening.
Detectives with the have launched an investigation into a fatal shooting. It took place Tuesday afternoon in East Tampa.
According to Tampa Po- lice, officers responded to the 4700 block of E. Hillsbor- ough Avenue, Tuesday in ref- erence to shots fired. Within minutes of the officers being dispatched to the area, Tampa Police received a sec- ond call from St. Joseph’s Hospital, in reference to a gunshot victim. The caller stated that an unidentified person had dropped a gun- shot victim off at the hospital.

lamy Miller, III, suffered upper body gunshot wounds. Medical personnel immedi-
ately began performing first aid on Miller. However, he died as a result of his injuries.
Detectives responded to E. Hillsborough Avenue and N. 47th Street, as well as to the hospital to conduct simulta- neous investigations.
Detectives are developing leads in the case and do not believe the shooting was ran- dom. The investigation is continuing.

Detectives with the Tampa Police Department are currently investigating a fatal shooting. It took place Wednesday evening in the 6500 block of N. 40th Street.
Information pertaining to the shooting was sketchy at press time. Officers were dis- patched to the location after receiving calls of shots fired in the area.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound. He died as a result of his injuries.
The victim has been iden- tified as Cordarrell Sanders, of Orlando. He celebrated his 30th birthday on September 21st.
The investigation is con- tinuing.
Robbery Suspect Arrested After Police Chase
Police have arrested two people in connection with an armed robbery. The arrests came about following a po- lice pursuit.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the inci- dent began when two sus- pects allegedly robbed the Sunoco Gas Station, 11931 Highway 301 Wednesday af- ternoon. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is- sued an alert with a descrip- tion of the vehicle the suspects fled in.
Shortly after 2 p.m., Tampa Police responded to Fowler Avenue, near 50th Street in reference to a reck- less driver. The driver was heading westbound and was reportedly waving a gun around.
The officers observed the vehicle turning southbound onto McKinley Drive off of Fowler Avenue. The officers attempted to conduct a traf- fic stop and the driver stopped momentarily, jumped out of the vehicle yelling he had a gun, then got back into the vehicle and fled the scene, police said.
At the same time, the alert from the Sheriff’s Office was being broadcast over the police radio. The vehicle matched the description of the suspected robbery get- away car, police said.

As the driver continued, police were in pursuit. The driver then hit a stop sign at N. Central Avenue and E. Genesee Street and the vehi- cle stopped at that intersec- tion after hitting a retaining wall. At that point, police were able to take the driver into custody.
There were no injuries re- ported to police as a result of the chase.
Police arrested 50-year- old Kenneth Fritz Wake- field and charged him with aggravated fleeing to elude, five counts of hit and run, re- sisting arrest without vio- lence, and not having a valid driver’s license. He was being held on a $9,500 bond at the Hillsborough County Jail.
Detectives interviewed the passenger in the vehicle and released him without fil- ing any charges in the case.

The officers then engaged in a pursuit of the vehicle. At 2:18 p.m., the suspect slowed down and the pas- senger bailed out at E. River- hills Drive and N. Orange View Avenue. The passenger was taken into custody.

The victim of an early morning shooting during the early morning hours of Sep- tember 18th has died.
He was taken to the hos- pital and listed in “extremely critical” condition at the time of the shooting.

transported by car to a nearby Tampa Fire Station and dropped off.

A spokesman for the po- lice department said every- one involved has been identified.
No arrests have been made. However, the investi- gation is continuing.
