Hometown Athlete Looks Forward To NFL Grind
With Tre Watson’s col- lege career coming to a close, some would think it is the end, but for him, it is only the beginning. The son of a for- mer Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ player Tim Watson and Tampa native, Christa Watson, Tre has football in his blood and his ties to the Tampa community run deep starting at a young age.
Not only is Tre’s father a former NFL player, but his uncle played football at Mar- shall University and his younger brother, Christian, currently plays football at North Dakota State.
With Tre’s football jour- ney at a turning point be- tween his college career and the NFL, he is grateful for his Tampa roots and the com- petiveness that was in- grained in him growing up amongst All-Star players.
Tre was born and raised in Tampa, attended Tampa Catholic High School and played with several current
NFL stars, including Buffalo Bills WR, Ray-Ray McLoud; Indianapolis Colts WR, Deon Cain; Buffalo Bills DE, Mike Love and Seattle Seahawks QB, Alex McGough.
Tre was among the elite coming out of Tampa Catholic, earning first-team Class 3A All-State Elite hon- ors by FloridaHSFootball. com and second-team all- state honors by the Or- lando Sentinel and Tampa Bay Times. He also helped lead the team to 3A state semifinals and to a district title in 2013.
After being recruited by several intriguing universi- ties, Tre decided on the Uni- versity of Illinois.
With three solid seasons at the University of Illinois and one-year left of eligibil- ity, Tre chose to take his tal- ents to the Maryland Terrapins.
It was a decision that would impact the team, the

Big 10 and his future in the NFL. Tre was a record set- ting linebacker for the Terra- pins, leading the Big 10 in tackles (114 total) and Inter- ceptions (5) and helping the team hold their own against Big 10 standouts like Ohio State.
Tre was also named De- fensive Player of the Week (8/24/18) and earned 1st Team All-Big 10 Honors.
He closed out his season with an invite to the Tampa-based All Star game, the East-West Shrine Game.
With so much history in Tampa and his plan to cata- pult his career to the NFL by training in Tampa, it seemed instinctive that Tre chose an agent and agency with Tampa roots.
In tandem with his on the field efforts, Tre looks for- ward to the opportunity of working with OTG Sports and Chris Martin for his future in the NFL, an agency that also represents several former competitors in Buf- falo Bills DE, Mike Love
and Seattle Seahawks QB, Alex McGough. Coming out in a Draft Class that in- cludes several other Tampa standouts, Tre looks forward to working with a team that will have his best interest at heart and directly relate to his NFL journey.
Tre looks forward to coming home and officially begin the NFL grind. With so many opportunities ahead, Tre is thankful for the road his journey has taken thus far. On April 25, 2019 remember the name, Tre Watson, because there is no doubt it will be called on Draft Day.
