Driver Linked To Longshoreman’s Death Gets 52 Years On Robbery Charges

Last week, a federal judge sentenced two men to serve federal prison terms. The men were the last of a group convicted of committing a string of armed robberies last year.
According to court docu- ments, U. S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew sen- tenced Reo Thomas Nance, 31, of Temple Ter- race, to 52 years in federal prison. Samuel Lee Lynch, 29, also of Temple Terrace, was handed down a life sen- tence. The men were con- victed of a string of robberies that took place in March and April 2015.
They were found guilty of conspiracy, armed robbery, and firearms offenses by a federal jury on January 29, 2016. The Court also entered

money judgments against both in the amount of $93,519, which was consid- ered the proceeds of the crimes.
Their co-defendants,
Christopher Marquis Fruster, 21, of Tampa, and Ms. Brittany Jenae Hall, 27, both of Tampa, entered guilty pleas earlier this year.
Fruster was sentenced to 13 years in prison on March 22, 2016. Ms. Hall was sentenced to 3 years in federal prison on April 12, 2016.
Prosecutors presented ev- idence in court during the trial that showed the group targeted check cashing busi- nesses that kept large sums of money on hand. During each robbery, Lynch and Nance displayed firearms.
Investigators said that during a robbery of the Ne- braska Food Market on March 26, 2015, Lynch shot an accomplice and bystander.

Trial Pending In Hit N’ Run Death
Nance was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death during the same period in which the armed robberies were taking place.
The vehicle in which Her- bert McCloud James, 25, was driving was struck by an- other vehicle during the early morning hours of March 22, 2015. James died at the scene.

the corner of N. 40th Street and E. Deleuil Avenue.
The driver of the other ve- hicle, described as a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro, fled the scene on foot after the acci- dent. The car had been rented in Orlando.
Evidence gathered at the scene linked Reo Thomas Nance to the fatal accident. A warrant was issued for his ar- rest and he was taken into cus- tody on April 24, 2015. Nance is awaiting trial in this case.

attended the public schools of Hillsborough County. He earned his GED and after reaching adulthood, he be- came employed as a member of the International Long- shoreman’s Association. He was working out of the Port of Manatee at the time of his death.
The father of two young sons, James was a member of Agape Christian Center. He enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his dirt bike.
