Lakers superstar LeBron James was ejected from the team’s game against the Pis- tons after he drilled Detroit’s Isaiah Stewart in the head with an elbow while the two players were fighting for a re- bound in the third quarter of Sunday’s matchup.
James was hit with a fla- grant foul and was later ejected following a video re- view.
It appeared James’ elbow and hand made contact with
LEBRON JAMES AND ISAIAH STEWART
Stewart’s head. The second- year player on the Pistons
started to bleed, went into a rage and had to be held back by several teammates and coaches to keep him separated from James.
Stewart was also ejected from the game and had to be guided to the team’s tunnel. The game resumed with 9:18 to go in the third, and the Pis- tons held a 78-66 lead over Los Angeles.
The two teams will square off again next Sunday in Los Angeles.
Terence Crawford Left No Doubt Of His
 Greatness Against Shawn Porter, But
Nets Irving Tweets Out Three Photos
“I kinda expected that question because [I have fought] everyone,” Porter said during the post-fight press conference. “I am, I am prepared to retire. I was pre- pared to announce my retire- ment tonight, win lose or draw. Even if it was a draw, we had a date, they were telling us we’d have to do it again, I was not going to do it again. I’m announcing my retirement right now.”
"He's the best out of every- body I have been in the ring with," Porter said. "That man hit me with more than any- body I've been in the ring with."
With his TKO win over
Porter, Crawford improves his unbeaten record to 38-0, and retained his WBO welter- weight title.
Crawford spoke about him as well, and referenced how Spence could only beat Porter by split decision.
“That boy said he wasn’t gonna never be at my fights, and now he’s at my fights. You see what I did compared to what he did,” Crawford said about Spence. “Who’s num- ber one in the welterweight di- vision now?”
"Terrence Crawford is definitely the best pound for pound fighter right now," stated the 50-0 champ Floyd Mayweather.
Terence Crawford
waited a few seconds for the moment to sink in before he jumped up and down in front of a sold-out crowd.
For years, the undefeated WBO welterweight champion and one of boxing's top pound-for-pound fighters lacked the big win against a fellow 147-pounder.
But on Saturday night, Crawford didn't just get a victory.
He received vindication.
In his toughest test in years, Crawford used a cou- ple of big punches to stop for- mer champion Shawn Porter in the 10th round to retain his world title at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay.
The question Crawford asked in his post-fight inter- view was rhetorical and un- derscored the importance of the outcome and what it means for him and boxing at large.
"Who's No. 1 in the welter- weight division now?" Craw- ford asked, a question answered with roars from the 11,568 in attendance, many who cheered loudest for Crawford.
It's been the biggest ques- tion in the sport for several years, since Floyd May- weather retired and the void was filled by two men -- Crawford and the unde- feated Errol Spence, Jr., who previously beat Porter and was in attendance for Crawford's win.
And then shortly after the bout was over, Porter retired from boxing.
Terence "Bud" Crawford retains his WBO title with a TKO of Shawn Porter in Las Vegas Saturday night.
Errol Spence, Jr. Still Elusive
Kyrie Irving sent out three tweets on Sunday, and all three posts can be seen on his Twitter account.
Irving has yet to play in a game this season due to the vaccine mandate in New York City preventing him from playing at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The All-Star guard could technically be a part-time player, but before the season began the Nets made their de- cision clear that Irving would not be with the team until he could be a full-time partici- pant.
KYRIE IRVING
The Nets were meant to be a team with a big-three of Irv- ing, James Harden and Kevin Durant with older veterans as depth.
