Lakewood Baseball Complex To Be Renamed After Prominent Dentist
ST. PETERSBURG, FL - The Lakewood Baseball Complex will be renamed on Saturday, March 3, 2018, 12:30 p. m.
The complex will become
Dr. Reginald “Reggie” Ligon Baseball Complex in honor of Dr. Reginald Ligon, whose vibrant en-
thusiasm for his community and youth baseball will be remembered. The ceremony will take place at Lakewood Baseball Complex, 1201 58th Ave. S.
Dr. Ligon, a longtime resident of St. Petersburg, a dentist, a community leader and President of Bay Point
...The Late DR. REGINALD ‘REGGIE’ LIGON
Little League, passed away on August 20, 2017. He was heavily involved in the con- struction of the Bay Point Little League fields located at Lake Vista Recreation Center and Lakewood High School, and spent many years leading the organiza- tion.
He was committed to providing more than just a fun game of baseball for the youth of St. Petersburg. He was committed to setting examples and teaching les- sons of respect, humility, discipline, and perseverance through the game.
That devotion reached beyond youth sports. He was involved with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hos- pital, the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life cam- paign, the Community Al- liance, the Johnnie Ruth Clarke Health Center, Lead- ership St. Pete, the Sun- coasters of St. Petersburg and his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc.
The complex will be a re- minder of Dr. Ligon’s de- dication to his community.

3rd Annual Girls Summit To Be Held At Middleton High School
“You Deserve To Be Loved”
Through the vision of Dr. Jeffery Johnson and several Tampa Bay leaders, the community is joining forces again to gear up for the 3rd Annual “You De- serve To Be Loved” Girls Summit.
The summit will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Middleton High School, 4801 N. 22nd Street, Tampa, FL 33610, from 8:30 a. m. to 4 p. m. The event will ad- dress the negative chal- lenges faced by today’s young ladies, while giving them tools for academic, so- cial, and career success.
Special celebrity guests include: Para-Olympian Femita Ayanbeku from Team USA, local singing sensation, Siobhan Monique, and a surprise A-List VH-1 reality show star will be in attendance. She will attempt to inspire girls on how to overcome the pressures of adolescent years and share her experi- ence growing up in the music and entertainment industry.
The goal is to reach 1,000 girls and parents.
The attendance age is be- tween 6th and 12th grades. The event is open to parents to participate in the parent sessions.
“The objective of the Summit is to inspire young ladies to achieve their dreams while building their character and confidence to know they are worthy of re- spect and love,” Dr. Jef- fery Johnson said.
Breakout sessions will include topics on self-es- teem, entrepreneurship, so- cial skills, financial literacy and more.
The day will be filled with creative activities dur- ing workshops, dynamic guest speakers from the community, empowering panel discussions, free food, makeovers, and the return of the highly anticipated fashion show.

For the organization that registers the most girls they will receive a paid trip for four including lodging and airfare to the African Amer- ican Museum in Washing- ton, D. C.
Dr. Jeffery Johnson
is a Tampa Bay community leader, pastor, and colle- giate professor. He says, “The summit is designed in- tentionally for young women to leave invigorated to achieve their dreams, ac- complish their goals, as well as to make positive friend- ships with other like achiev- ers and connections with potential mentors.”
The 2018 Girls Summit is a free event.
