This is the Mercedes Benz driven by Keith Booker at the time of the accident.
A 34-year-old man died in a single car accident early Tues- day. The victim has been iden- tified as 34-year-old Keith B. Booker.
According to the Tampa Po- lice Department, at approxi- mately 12:36 a.m., officers observed a gray Mercedes Benz fail to stop at a stop sign. The officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop at N. 40th Street and E. Chelsea.
The driver of the vehicle is said to have turned off his head- lights and flee eastbound on E. Chelsea at a high rate of speed. A spokesman for the police de- partment said the officer turned off his emergency equipment and backed off, as is the Tampa Police Department’s policy, and did not give chase.
The officers reportedly drove down northbound on N. 42nd Street, out of the line of sight of the Mercedes. Minutes later, the officers were notified of an accident at the Myrtle Hill Cemetery, a few blocks away.
When officers arrived at the

scene, in the 4200 block of E. Chelsea, they discovered a gray 2009 Mercedes had been in- volved in a single-car accident. They later determined it was the same vehicle that fled from the traffic stop minutes earlier, the spokesman said.
Detectives came to the con- clusion that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the car veered off the road and struck two trees. The only person in the vehicle, identified as Booker, died at the scene.
