Woman Charged With Murder In
Traffic Accident Leaves 3 Dead, 1 Injured
Death Of Baby
A two-car accident early Tuesday has left three peo- ple dead and 1 seriously in- jured. The accident took place around 5 a.m., at the intersection of Sheldon Road and Linebaugh.
According to the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice, a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu, silver in color, was traveling northbound on Sheldon Road. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 20-
year-old Troy Kinney, is alleged to have failed to stop for a red traffic light. His passengers have been identi- fied as Tribizael Santiago, 20, and 18-year-old Aliyah Rodriguez.
According to police, the Malibu struck the back of a 2017 Nissan Altima after running the traffic light. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, and it contin- ued traveling until it struck a
poll. All three occupants were ejected and died at the scene, police said.
The driver of the Nissan was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he was admitted in serious con- dition.
Police said the Malibu was a rented vehicle that was supposed to be returned on September 1st. The investiga- tion is continuing.
A 25-year-old woman was arrested last week and charged in connection with the death of a baby. The in- fant was left in her care.
According to police, an autopsy results from the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office, the death of the 2-month-old was ruled a homicide.
Detectives with the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice began their investigation in April 2019, after St. Joseph’s Hospital contacted them. Hospital personnel told police the infant suffered nu- merous injuries consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome and was left paralyzed.

arrested for child abuse at the time. On March 20, 2020, the child died at the hospital. After receiving the autopsy results, deputies charged Ms. Craig with first degree mur- der while engaged in aggra- vated child abuse.
Man Charged With DUI After Crashing Into Patrol Car
61 Drivers Arrested During 10-Day Drunk Driver Campaign
Detectives with the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice arrested a 21-year-old man after he allegedly crashed into a patrol vehicle. The incident took place last Saturday morning in Valrico.
According to police, around 4:43 a.m., The sus- pect, identified as Cole Gatlin, was driving a Ford Taurus eastbound on High- way 60 East, through a North Valrico Road intersec- tion.
The 2018 Taurus struck the left back side of a marked 2016 Dodge Charger located in the center lane. Two deputies were inside the pa- trol unit at the time of the crash. After the initial colli- sion, the Taurus struck the back of a 2013 white Toyota Sequoia.
After being stopped by police, Gatlin reportedly displayed visible signs of im- pairment as he exited his ve- hicle and was arrested at the scene after failing the Field Sobriety Exercises.
He provided a lawful
breathe sample which re- vealed his blood alcohol con- tent was twice the legal limit: .181% and .168% BAC, re- spectively.
Gatlin allegedly admit- ted to deputies he consumed alcohol before getting behind the wheel and despite feeling its effects, continued to drive. He was charged with driving under the influence with property damage.

In several incidents, driv-
ers failed the Field Sobriety Exercises and were taken into custody. During the 10-day period that began on Friday, August 28th, until Monday, September 7th, a total of 61 drivers were arrested and charged with DUI. Deputies also issued 151 citations.
Deputies also focused on the waterways, but did not issue any BUIs (Boating Under the Influence) arrests.
Deputies did issue 2 citations and 9 warnings.
Chad Chronister, Hills- borough County Sheriff said, “While most people are relaxing over the holiday weekend, our deputies re- main alert, vigilantly pa- trolling our roadways and waterways.
Through their efforts we were able to get dozens of drunk drivers off the streets, and with citations, reminded other drivers to follow traffic laws. It’s imperative that every single day, every time they get behind the wheel, drivers make safety their top priority.”
