  Rev. Thomas Scott For Hillsborough County Commission, District 3 Kickoff Is Tuesday
 On Tuesday, October 15, Thomas Scott will host his campaign kickoff for Hillsborough County Commission, District 3. Scott will host his campaign kickoff party at the Columbia Restaurant Museum, 2029 E. 7th Ave., from 5:30-7:30 p. m.
Host members for the event include: Richard Gonzmart, Tampa City Council Chairman, Luis Viera, Tampa City Council- man John Dingfelder, and former Tampa City Councilman, Mike Suarez, Louis Betz, Bob Morrison, Suzy Holley, Thomas Huggins, Beth Leytham, Dr. Zachery Hudson, Freddie Hudson, Tony Cooper, and Steve Anderson.
Scott says has the proven leadership that District 3 needs to improve: affordable housing for first time home buyers and renters; to im- prove the roads and sidewalks throughout the district including: Ybor City, Progress Village and North Tampa, and to provide economic re- vitalization for communities in need of invest- ment such as East and West Tampa.
In regards to affordable housing, Scott is already leading. In September, Scott was named co-chair by Mayor Jane Castor to lead the City of Tampa's Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, which will craft solutions to address the city's affordable housing crisis.

advocate for the residents of Hillsborough County. First, as the pastor of 34th Street Church of God, where he has pastored for nearly 40 years. Scott served 10 years on the Board of County Commission, representing District 3, serving three times as chair; created the East Tampa CRA, and he served 4 years on the Tampa City Council, serving three times as chairman.

This seminar will cover how to receive the homestead exemption and the Save Our Homes Cap, and how to avoid losing these valuable exemp- tions. Homestead exemptions and the Save Our Homes Cap are two of the most valuable property tax exemptions available for residential prop- erties. It is, however, easy to lose these benefits if you do not understand the nuance of the law.
The West Tampa CRA re- development area includes all public and private property located within its boundaries: North – West Columbus Drive; South – South Kennedy Blvd.; West – N. Ar- menia Ave.; and East – Hills- borough River.
