County Commissioners Vote On Revised Redistricting Maps
COMM. GWEN MYERS ...Discusses map with residents
Hillsborough County Commissioner Gwen Myers was pleased with the number of people who came out last week (Sept. 22nd) to see the map her staff had drawn for District 3, and to ask questions about the areas included. However, she wants the community to know that that’s not the end. There will be additional meetings and discussions. Commissioner Myers shared a timeline of upcoming events that the commu- nity should be prepared to participate in.
At Wednesday morning’s board meeting, the Com- missioners chose 3 revised maps that will be advertised overthenext4weeks–MapsE,FandG.Map‘F’isthe

She cautioned board members that they can no longer come into the African-American community when it’s convenient for them and when they need something. “And we have got to stop falling for those tactics. We have to stand for the total community,” she
said.
What is Redistricting?
Redistricting is the constitutionally-mandated re- drawing of local, state, and federal political boundaries every 10 years following the federal Census to account for changes in population during the previous decade.
Also there to see the maps were: Karl Davis, Regina Gambrell, Dr. Sam Wright, and James Ridley.
