Top Court Restores Alabama Map In Blow To Black Voting Power
Dwayne Johnson Reconsiders His Support Of Joe Rogan
A divided U. S. Supreme Court dealt a blow to minority voting rights, reinstating an Al- abama congressional map that creates only one district likely to elect a Black representative after a lower court had said federal law required a second one.
The 5-4 order ensures that Alabama voters will use the original Republican-drawn map in the November election. The state, which has seven congressional districts, is 27% Black.
Two justices in the majority -- Brett Kavanaugh and Samuel Alito -- said the order wasn’t a decision on the merits of the Voting Rights Act case and will apply only until the justices can rule on Al- abama’s appeal. Kavanaugh said the Supreme Court “has

repeatedly stated that federal courts ordinarily should not enjoin a state’s election laws in the period close to an election.”
The court’s three liberals blasted that reasoning. “Al- abama is not entitled to keep violating Black Alabamians’ voting rights just because the
court’s order came down in the first month of an election year,” Justice Elena Kagan wrote for court’s three liberals. Chief Justice John Roberts also dissented but didn’t join Kagan’s opinion.
The court didn’t say when it will hear the case, though under its normal scheduling practices, arguments will take place during the nine-month term that starts in October.
The dispute is the first Supreme Court test for the new districts being drawn around the country to govern the next decade’s elections. The case could affect Texas, where the Biden administration is chal- lenging the state’s voting maps, and potentially other states whose district lines are under scrutiny from civil rights groups.
JOE ROGAN
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson initially supported Joe Rogan, but has "become educated" since learning of Rogan's use of a racial slur.
Johnson, whose father, wrestler Rocky Johnson, was Black -- responded to Winslow writing "Thank you

so much for this.
"I hear you as well as every-
one here 100%," the tweet con- tinued. "I was not aware of his N word use prior to my com- ments, but now I've become ed- ucated to his complete narrative. Learning moment for me."
  Atlanta DA Investigating
Trump's Election Interference:
'We're Not Here Playing A Game'
The Atlanta-area district attor- ney investigating Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia cast doubt Monday on the argu- ment by the ex-President's attor- neys that he can't be prosecuted for potential crimes committed during his time in office.
"Of course, I've given thought to if -- that that may be raised as a legal issue," Fulton County Dis- trict Attorney Fani Willis said in an interview with CNN when asked about the argument his lawyers have previously made.
"I don't think that that protec- tion will prevent a prosecution if that becomes necessary in this state case," she added.
Willis has been investigating whether Trump or his allies com- mitted any crimes in their cam- paign to convince Georgia officials to find fraud and hand Trump a victory in the Peach State in 2020. The probe was launched last year following Trump's call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in which he pushed the Republican to "find" votes to overturn the election re- sults.

"You and I have listened to that phone call. But also I have the benefit of also having talked to a lot of witnesses and probably hav- ing read more on this than most people would like to," she said.
"This is a criminal investigation. We're not here playing a game," Willis said. "I plan to use the power of the law. We are all citi- zens."
"Mr. Trump, just as every other American citizen, is entitled to dignity. He's entitled to be treated fairly. He will be treated fairly in this jurisdiction," she added. "But I plan to do my job and my job is to make sure that we get the evidence that gives us the truth. I'm not concerned at all about games to delay this."
